Hey y'all, I joined this form today to ask my fellow balding brethren what they think a buzz would look like. I have really really been trying for over 5 years to find a hairstyle that looks good on me. I have been on finasteride for around 18 months and use nizoral a few times a week in the shower. Luckily my hairline is awesome and not going anywhere, however the rest of my hair is uniformly thin. Since I am in college I have been able to get away with wearing a hat almost anywhere i go, but now that I will be graduating in May, I think it might be time for me to just say screw it, regarding my hair, and get a buzz. I am SO TIRED of using powder and special gel every time I don't wear a hat. So my real question is, Do I have enough hair for a buzz cut, or will it make me look bald? Thank y'all, I really really appreciate any feedback y'all have.

Buzz it and add minoxidil. You seem to have good facial features for it.

diffuse thinning and buzzcuts arent fun. i think a short cut will do you some good... blend the sides in starting at .5 and keep enough to do a little swoop over in the front. .5 on sides will make the top of your head look thicker. your hair is still decent bro.

This can easily be concealed with light brown toppik - it will be so easy to hide as you have great coverage.

Yeah. You still have a lot on top. Just experiment by manipulating your hairs over the bad spots until you find a good way of hiding it. And like tellersquill said, your a good candidate for toppik. Just a few sprays and a touch of hair spray should be good. Not much maintenance at all.

Thanks y'all! So y'all think the best option would be for me to shorten it up on the sides and then apply toppik? I have been using i think k2 keratin, so I'm just curious is toppik any better? I really appreciate the help!

ETA: I am really not trying to conceal my hair anymore, as I have been doing this since sophomore year of high school. I am tired of wearing a hat around my house after i shower because I don't want to put stuff in my hair. I Tired of fighting my hair and would just rather something easy and something that I can live with daily . Make it look good for a fancy dinner, but also be able to go workout without having to wear a hat or doing my hair up so that I don't have to wear a hat.

Your hair looks good. I dont think you should cut it. Is there any reason why you havent added minoxidil?

What's your finasteride dosage? And do you use minoxidil?

I had a buzz cut like 5 months ago.. I hated it the first few weeks but then I felt better about it. I even think my hair looks better now than before so Id say go for it.

just ordered minoxidil. I used it in high school and just sort of stopped, but I definitely will start it up again. I'm on 1mg of finasteride a day, and honestly my hair has sort of thickened since I started! Think I'm gonna go in for a haircut tomorrow and ask for like a 3 on my sides to be tapered up into whatever the stylist thinks looks good, but as short as possible. thanks again!

f*** dude, it's like looking in a mirror. Buzz the sides and back to two, fade up to a six on top, brush it forward and you'll feel alot better. Also consider treatments.

buzzcut wont look good in your situation. it will look like patches on your scalp.

Keep the layers, and volumes. never give up the fight.

What he said ^ Dude im 19, worse hairloss than you (norwood 2 and crown thinning )and far more thinner on top, although im not diffuse ( i think? ) Im not giving up on my hair. If you have little to no sides stick with finasteride it is your BEST option right now. A bald head rarely goes good with a young face. Im trying to get finasteride myself but my doctor simply tells me my recession is normal ( yeah right ) who is 19 and has a worse hairline than their dad? Get real!! But anyway ill stop my rant. Dont buzz it until you really need to. I wish i had your hair mine is so thin and limp :(

Best of luck to you :)
