20 year old with hair loss

Hi guys, I just turned 20 and I am balding at the crown and have thinning hair. I have an appointment with a dermatologist in August, but until then I had some questions. I have been using head and shoulder for the past few years because of dandruff, and I don't think its good for my head. What is the best store shampoo for me, or is there nothing wrong with head and shoulders? Also is there anything I should be doing or not doing to prevent the hair loss? Thank you.
