Ive been lurking these forums for quite sometime now and ive decided to post. All the men on both my mothers and fathers side as well as my grandfathers are all bald so its destined to happen to me. Based on the pictures attached, what are my options and is medication even worth it? Im considering rogaine and nizoral shampoo but the finasteride im still up on the fence about. Also, i live relitivly close to a world class hair transplant specialist (dr Rahal) however an hair transplant at this point and due to my young age is probably not an option. Lastly, this past couple of weeks my scalp is starting to itch and burn and ive been shedding like crazy which of course is stressing me out. What do you fine folks think?

Personally, I would go and talk to your doctor about options. You are really young and some treatments might be more effective than others in someone your age. From what Ive seen of hair transplant, unless you have the cash to go to a top class surgeon they can be a bit hit or miss. Plus, like you said at 20, you dont know where your hairline wil eventually settle at.

I'd definitely consider finasteride, it's the cheapest, easiest option and where you're at has a great chance of helping a lot.

Options? You have 1 option from where I sit you either just accept that your going to go bald or you use propecia I just dont see what all these other options that exist are. There are hundreds of theoretical things that might help but I have better things to do with my time/money then spend it on no results. minoxidil cant hurt but again its not stopping aggressive male pattern baldness in 99 percent of cases
