Hey all, I'm twenty years old and have recently (past 4 months) been shedding ALOT of hair. Prior to that I never once thought about my hair or how it looked, it was always thick. I already have a high hairline naturally, so me losing my hair would devastate me.This has made me extremely depressed and anxious, it's the first thing I think of when I wake up and I just cannot get myself out this rut...

When I say alot of hair its quite a bit when I shower (If I try and count its probably around 20-25 on my hands, although I'm sure there are more still on the head and some going down the drain), then when I'm styling my hair I get more still (probably another 10-15??). I can then do the hair pull-rub test and more will come (on days I havent showered yet I can get like 30-40?).I'm certain this NEVER use to happen 4 months ago.. I also had a LARGE acne breakout all over my body (I've never had acne on my body, even during puberty) around the same time which makes me believe I could also possibly have Telogen Effluvium. My hormones were possibly out of wack at the point due to a large amount of stress from university work exams. I've researched that large amount of shedding is not normal with male pattern baldness. Thing is though, my dad is receding, albeit he only started receding at 35-40. On my mums side there is also a history of male pattern baldness, although none as young as me. This thus leads me to believe I could possibly have both at the same time, with the Telogen Effluvium just simply speeding things up :(

Also, in the pictures you can probably see alot of space inbetween the sides. When I grow it out it looks fairly diffused in that area, which has me confused as I thought male pattern baldness only hits the temples, vertex, and crown areas. My back area/back sides are still extremely thick.

Can you guys give me your thoughts on this? Are the hairs miniaturised, is the normal pattern of male pattern baldness? I thank you all for you time. All pictures were taken with wet hait.

It does look like there may be miniaturization along the temple points (spaces between the sides). I might even see some diffusion on top in the last pic, but that may be a trick of the light. No area is safe from male pattern baldness, sadly, nor is there really a "normal" pattern guaranteed to happen to every — my hair started thinning on top to form a "monk spot" before anything else.

Yes.

Don't wait like I did, or you'll be blowing thousands on surgery in a few years
