Hi everyone. This is my first post here as I've just signed up seeking some advice.
I'm a 20 year old male who was recently noticed thinning hair at the very front of my head (not the sides, literally the middle of my fringe). I've never had a "perfect" hairline. By this I mean its always been sort of a widows peak and Ive inherited this from my dad, I've always struggled through school thinking I was balding until I realised it was just genetic. I also never liked my hair because I thought it was too thick and curly (oh the irony) so from a young age my hair was straightened and this continued through most of secondary school (up until the point I started to accept my hair for what it was).
I really do not know how to deal with this, because although it is not massive hair loss, it is apparent and I am scared for what will happen in the future, I really don't want to loose my hair especially at such a young age. I'm quite sure its from straightening and blow drying it. I still blow dry it now as I heard rubbing hair dry is also bad - you just cant seem to win! I used to notice like loose/damaged ends or loose hairs or whatever and this is what is leading me to think its from straightening and its been a slow process of just simply mistreating my hair. I should also note that I get a pain like on my scalp/roots at my fringe - could this be linked to the hair loss?
I have not yet been to the doctors as I have been putting it off and I only noticed this thinning about 2 weeks ago. I've been taking hair & root tablets since Tuesday and I am trying Alpecin shampoo, although I sort of know the shampoo doesn't make your hair grow, it does give it a thicker look which I like.
Any advice will be very much appreciated. I really don't want to go bald but I don't know where to start as there are so many products online and I think the tablets I bought were just a waste of money.
