Hello! I'm 20 years old, and for probably 2 years i have been noticing a quickly receding hairline and strong thinning in my scalp. I used to have very thick hair, and got comments about it all the time, but now i get comments about the hair thinning, which depresses me a lot.
I've been using hairloss and thickening shampoos such as Nioxin, but not with much success. Yesterday i went to see a dermatologist for the first time, and she prescribed me some Clobex shampoo, which i haven't heard of being prescribed for male pattern baldness, but only for conditions such as Propecia Areata. (And it's pretty expensive)
I asked her about Propecia which she thought was too soon. The problem is that I worry about this soo much every day, and am really depressed about it since i care much about my hair/looks and don't want to go bald as a 22 year old or so. I do not think that this Clobex shampoo is any 'strong' solution to the problem. She wants me to use it for the next 3 months, and then do a check up. But i do not want to delay getting into proper treatment any longer, especially since i've lost so much in a matter of 1-2 years.
I have been considering hopping onto finasteride using the 5mg and splitting to quarters, and then maybe later hopping on Minoxidil 5% as well.
What are your thoughts?
