Hi guys,

I'm a 20y/o male and my girlfriend & I have noticed my hair is quite thin around the hairline. We always joked about my hairline receding but have just recently considered it an actual possibility.. I have attached some photos from now and 3 years ago as a comparison + info about my lifestyle which could be relevant.

I might be worrying about nothing and just have dry, naturally thin hair..
I hope some of your expert opinions can help me in figuring out what I have been experiencing, possible treatments, remedies etc!

Thank you in advance!!

I became most worried as I've noticed my hair, especially at the front, can become pretty dry and straw-like especially after showering and when I run my hand through it I can feel the hairs at my hairline being painfully pulled - occasionally I will rip out a strand..

Over the pandemic I have been working in performance marketing from home which has led to a lot of stress RE my job, money, bills and long hours of sitting and working.

I haven't been able to get as much exercise as I usually would in the last year but am still physically fit and healthy.

I eat a predominantly plant based diet, but with a range of various proteins, vitamins and nutritiously rich foods.

I smoke occasionally (couple times a week) in case that affects anything.

I haven't experienced any noticable hair loss apart.

There are no significant cases of early hair loss in my family, although my father has quite patchy hair.. But he is 53.

Again any help is much appreciated ☺

Looks like frontal thinning at widows peak and miniaturisation at the temples. I’m 80% sure but then again I’m no expert…

Compare your hair from pre teens, early mid and late teens. That is how you determine hair loss, best method there is.

Look to be developing a mature hairline, completely normal at your age. Thinning, if there is any present at all, dosent extend far enough back to suggest that it will progress past ‘mature hairline’ status. Tbh I don’t even think your thinning at the front everyone has a transition period of thinner hair right at the hairline. people that do hair transplants try to mimic this to make it look more realistic
