20 months - what now!? (with pics)

As you can see I had some success 6 months in with finasteride only but from then on slowly went thinner again. I guess in the pics my hair still looks better than before treatment but it is a lot longer now too. I have for sure not stopped my hair loss ... so what should I do? Add minoxidil? Go straight on dutasteride?

My regime so far was:

finasteride (1,25/day) - 20 months
Revita (daily) - 20 months
Tricomin (bottle a month) - 15 months

PS: Can't say Tricomin did anything. Didn't even stop my itch.

i dunno man, you'd know better than any of us obviously but that doesn't look thinner than it was at 6months, and it's definitely looking a bit darker in the 20month pic. maybe it's just cause the hair is longer as you said, i dunno, but that looks still like a definite improvement to me

Well it is longer and if you look at the crown you can see that I have been loosing hair again. I am not crazy or greedy or whatever. ;) Just wondering what would be the next logical thing to add to my treatment? Does minoxidil Foam work with hair that length?

It does but you have to part your hair and thoroughly apply it to the thinning regions.Anyway try the liquid before the foam.If you are allergic to the liquid, then use the foam.

Why? Is it more effective? I thought the foam was as effective but less of a pain to apply. And does that mean as well you agree minoxidil is what I should do next?

Erm, you could either go for a topical antiandrogen like Eucapil or another growth stimulator like minoxidil or Spectral RS, or maybe Nizoral instead of Revita as I have heard pretty mixed things about Revita - how are you finding it?

Well I dropped Nizoral because using Revita on its own every day helped reduce the itch in my case and made my hair look less dry/ sh*t. However I think I got a bad batch of Revita if that is possible. The shampoo was a lot thinner for once in a sudden and the itch got worse ...

... so for the moment I decided to mix Nizoral with Revita (1/3) just to do something while I am thinking. ;) Works fine, still foamy, itch is getting better no idea why I didn't have that idea earlier.

By the way just saw you are using Tricomin ... did it do anything for you?

I use like a bottle a month. That's a lot as you know and it seems like it does not do anything but speed up hair growth and cause constant shedding ... I mean I have been shedding 15 months straight without loosing much hair. Can only be the Tricomin causing that, probably I am overusing it ...

Ah, to be honest Tricomin was due to be an imminent addition, I haven't ordered it just yet (I just am too lazy to specify what I'm currently using, about to start, etc! as it changes a lot for me!)

Tricomin seems to be the best copper peptides option, but I have also used Spectral RS a bit and have faith that that's a reasonable non-minoxidil growth stimulant :)

Well if you ask me I wish I had never started using it. The only reason why I haven't dropped it is because it feels good ... and you never know if something that feels good might not work as well. ;)

But honestly, from what I understand it just speeds up the hair cycle. Let's say it does give you fuller hair - that would still only be a cosmetic effect, as more hair is in the Anagen Phase. That's all, it neither regrows hair nor does it stop hair loss. It's as good as Toppik ...

I think minoxidil could definitely regrow in that area.

So I decided to jump on Kirkland minoxidil and got my order today.

How long do you wait before you style your hair? I put it on about 45 minutes ago and it still has hardly dried, if at all ... My other question is, can I put it on straight after showering, when my hair is still wet?

I just recently started kirkland minoxidil and the greasiness of it is driving me nuts, too. It's fine when I apply at night, but I haven't been doing it twice a day yet because otherwise my hair looks horrible after applying minoxidil.

I am considering doing what a few guys on this board do...Rogaine Foam in the mornings, and kirkland minoxidil at night.

Dude it's a joke. I can't use it in the morning unless I did it after styling my hair. Is that actually oke, to put products in and then apply minoxidil? Do you know as well if it is oke to apply minoxidil when your hair is still wet?

I think for the moment I will use it only at nights and if I don't get results add like you said foam in the morning.

On the other hand I find it really easy to apply with the dropper. I am thinning on the whole tope of my head and the way it runs everywhere it's perfect, takes like 2 minutes. I don't even see how someone could apply 1ml only to the crown half of it would be running down the back of my head ...

I find applying minoxidil when the hair is a bit wet better. Faster drying and alot less visible after a few minutes. You chould try dr lee's #500 morning and kirkeland at night? Or just go down to 0.5 - 0.7ml morning and 1 - 1.3ml night.

How are things GrayMan? I am now three weeks in and shedding shitloads. My scalp was quite itchy the first week from the minoxidil too but got better after that. Its fine now. Hair is looking like sh*t though.
