Hey guys,
I've been struggling with pretty considerable hair loss/diffuse thinning since last summer. I started rogaine in September and, though it helped drastically initially, I noticed many of the regrown hairs miniaturizing around January and - as of now - my hair is probably thinner than it's ever been. At the end of August I shaved my head bald and was applying liquid rogaine over the temple and crown portions and giving it three or four good hours to really soak in. It seemed like it had a great effect and, though my hair didn't look great when it started coming in, it looked pretty full and thick after about three months of growth. By winter break my hair was pretty thick and, while you could find a lot of scalp if you looked for them when parting it, it looked pretty fine without manipulation and I wasn't at all ashamed to walk around in public. At this point I ALSO switched over the foam rogaine and, due to being pretty happy with my hair, didn't even think of cutting it. So, to the questions..

1. After a month or so I began noticing increasingly visible thinning on the crown and renewed miniaturization of temple hairs that had thickened and regrown over the last three months. Is it possible that my thicker hair is making it difficult to get the rogaine to my scalp and, if so, - in lieu of shaving again - do you think it would be better to switch back to liquid rogaine? I don't know what to do, as I'm really bummed about regression and would hate to think that rogaine just stopped working after less than a year of use. At the same time, I am far more comfortable with my current hairstyle and would hate to have to shave again to facilitate successful application. Is liquid the way to go here?

2. While on rogaine I made consistent efforts to add propecia to my regime. I would come home often from university during the fall and winter, scheduling with various dermatologists and attempting to get written prescriptions for the drug. Unfortunately, none of the three i managed to get appointments with would consent to a prescription and, while acknowledging that I did indeed show identifiable baldness, they worried about giving the drug to someone young. I just turned 23, so I found this slightly odd given the stated 18 and up age range of the product. Either way, I've given up wasting times with dermatologists who aren't forced to consider their long-term self image when wrestling with the issue of treatment and am ready to just go the online route and get the ball rolling. I found the following link on one of the forums and am just wondering if the product and site listed are reliable and equal in effectiveness and strength to the non generic version
http://www.inhousepharmacy.com/hair-loss/fincar.html

Any help would be hugely appreciated, guys.

Thanks!

Yes the site and products are very reliable. In fact, I'd say the majority of the people on this forum order from either there or unitedpharmacies.com. I used the latter and bought finpecia. I have only been on it for 2 and a half months so far so I couldn't tell you if I have noticed any results. If you want to save some money, order some Fincar and then split it into 1/5ths or 1/4ths and take everyday. 40 dollars should last you 4 months!

Thanks a lot for the help, guys. I ended up ordering 30 bucks worth of fincar last night and will hopefully be on my way to improvement once it finally arrives!
