hey guys,
gonna start propecia in a few days and i was wondering what time is best for taking the stuff? Day or night?

Also, is weightlifting in the gym a good idea while going on this stuff? i work out 4 days a week and run 3.

thanks a lot.

Time of day doesn't matter, though I always took it in the morning hours during the first few months because there *is* some adjusting your body has to do once you start on it.

The cool thing about Propecia is you can't even tell you've taken it after you take it. Most pills you can at least feel in your stomach, or feel a change, etc within an hour or two. You won't notice or feel a thing after taking it.

After about a week on it you may feel a little disconglomerated, or you may feel nothing. Most feel nothing. Depends on how sensitive you are to hormonal changes. At the very worst you will just need to take care of yourself and get good rest... then it will go away.

As for working out, it should actually begin to enhance your workouts for awhile with the temporary increase in testosterone.

The big concern with new propecia users is that you must be on Nizoral shampoo every 3 days and you must expect to shed like mad for the first few months, and plan to ride it out. If it doesn't happen, great. If it does though, you will be sorely tempted to drop treatment. Don't. Stick with it.

define "shed like mad"...

I know a lot of guys shed, but are we talking extremely noticeable or just personally nerve-wracking? Would you say, after all the posts here through the years, that the majority of beginning Propecia users "shed like mad"? How about dosage related results...Do more of the 1 mg guys shed than the lower dose guys? I'm used to shedding, believe me, but I won't stay on this stuff if it gets unmanageable.

Are propecia sheds usually a one time occurrence or can one expect to shed, regrow and then go through that cycle again and again?

i think HairLossTalk.com has stock in nizoral.

also my hair started shedding before i took propecia (the main reason i hopped on it) so i don't know how to tell if i'm going through a propecia shed or not. if it naturally stops though i don't know if i can attribute it to a normal hair cycle type of thing or the propecia.

20something, sheds come and go. Its all a matter of the % of hairs that go into resting phase, and when they cycle in cycle out, etc. Your question isn't possible to answer accurately. Different for everyone. Many see sheds at month 1-3 and 6-8 and 11-13, becoming less noticeable each time.
