Hi all!

I have a question if anyone is kind enough to help. I have been on a regimen of 5% Rogaine and 5 mg of finasteride and have not seen any real improvements. Hopefully it has been able to stem the loss of hair. However I now wish to add in Nizoral into my treatment because I'm hoping to see some growth (as all of us are)!

My question is: Where can I go about purchasing Nizoral, and which of the many products of Nizoral do you guys recommend (i.e. 1% vs. 2%, tea extract)? Is there a website that you guys trust to purchase from? Also is this available at local stores or would I need to get a Doctor's prescription? Lastly, what would you recommend T/Gel or Nizoral and why?

I have scoured the forums for info on this, it's just that some of it conflict with other advice so I wish to clear up some of my confusion. Sorry for the long rant, I will provide pictures of my six month journey real soon.

1% is easier to purchase, as it's in most grocery stores.

Both T/Gel and Nizoral are anti-inflammatory shampoos, but Nizoral also has anti-androgen properties and acts as a mild growth stimulant. A lot of people on Finasteride use Nizoral and rotate with T/Gel on off-days.

I think you're doing the right thing adding Nizoral. Controlling inflammation is an important step - there have been people who reported no results on finasteride until they added Nizoral to their regimen. Use it every third day, and leave it in your scalp for at least 5 mins before washing it out.

Why do you take 5mg of finasteride instead of a normal dose of 1 - 1.25mg?

Thanks for the replies guys.

Hopefully, adding the Nizoral will help stimulate the hair growth. Anyone else here have had positive results coming from Nizoral?

Sorry if I confused you on the post. I just meant that I bought the 5% finasteride but I neglected to mention that I cut it into fourths and take 1/4 of a finasteride pill once a day.

I was wondering, did you guys ever get paranoid about washing your hair? I know this might sound weird, but sometimes I don't wash my hair. The reason for this is that I see a lot of my hair by the drain and it freaks me out!

I have one more question, if any one can help me out. After washing your hair with nizoral do you typically wait awhile untill you put the rogaine? Or do you dry your hair and immediately put the rogaine on while your head is still a little damp?

someone once posted that they put rogaine on at least 2 hours after using nizoral just in case one interferes with the absorbtion of the other
thats what i do

I dry and immediately apply the minoxidil foam while the scalp is still a little damp...it provides the greatest absorption that way.

I would discourage you from not washing your hair occasionally because I believe it's best to apply any topical treatment on a freshly clean scalp for best results, instead of a dirty one with possible residues left over from the previous application or any natural oil buildup on the scalp that "may" hinder absorption. of course if you can't wash the hair it's better to apply it to a dirty scalp than to skip a dose.

First I use my shampoo to get all the dirt out, then I immediately apply nizoral and lather it in, after it soaks in for 5-10mins I wash it off with warm to hottish water to really open up the pores. towel dry quickly and immediately apply the minoxidil foam, if 3 mins go by I waited too long. for the next application of the foam in the day I wash my hair again and repeat the same process without the nizoral.

on days that I don't use nizoral I use T-Sal shampoo 2/week because it really cleans out the pores and refreshes the scalp. some prefer to add T-Sal at the same time as nizoral.

Hi guys:

So, I went ahead and purchased a 120ml bottle of Nizoral 2% shampoo online.

I was wondering if the majority of you guys buy the shampoo online or with a Doctors' Rx? If not, do you guys have any recommendation of trusted sites (hopefully ones that are close to the U.S.) that you guys often buy from?

By the way this is the packaging my bottle will come in. Is this the package you guys get? Couldn't upload the pic, so here is a link of what the box looks like.

Thanks in advance!
