I have been on finasteride since June 16th of this year. My hair is much much worse now. Its not that finasteride is making me lose hair its that im continueing to lose it at the same rate as before which was very aggressive (400-500 hairs lost per day) and im pretty much near bald now.

Should I continue finasteride or am I a non responder? From what ive seen most people who respond to finasteride it stops the loss pretty early on. Ive also been using rogaine but not seeing anything yet.

I am pretty depressed guys as If i was atleast able to keep the hair I had on june 16th I would have been happy but now im pretty much very noticably balding. I thought getting on finasteride on time would make a difference but it didnt. Ill upload pics when I get home.

How can you tell you lose "400-500" hairs? Just curious.

How many mg finasteride do you take ED? Personally I don't think you're long enough on the drug. Just give it more time.

I gently wait for the pictures, because most of the time, they're more accurate than posts.

I counted bro. I take 1mg a day. Started off with 0.5mg everyday at first but then switches to 1mg a day about 2 weeks in.

Here are some pics. I got a buzzcut at the start of august because it was getting too see through and my friend said that cutting it shorter would make it less noticable so because of that the comparison is harder but even with the haircut you should be able to see how bad it got.

Day 1 of finasteride with wet hair:

After 2 months with dry hair:

I know because I cut my hair it is harder to tell but trust me I lost atleast 40% of my density in the last 5 months.

Should I get on avodart since my hairloss is clearly agressive?

Woah...

Give it another 2-3 months...

If no slowing down get on avodart and rogaine... if that doesn’t work then you’ve done all you realistically can :-/

Im already on rogaine. I tried getting dutasteride here before but its so hard in canada to get it, nobody will prescribe it. Im just shocked at how fast all of this happens. I thought of hairloss to be this thing that takes years to happen not months to go full bald. At this rate before next summer ill def be full nw6. The only other case ive seen where it was this agressive was my dad. He claims he went from full head to bald in 10 months but idk how true that is.

Dang that’s sick regrowth... fingers crossed for all of us.

I think you’ll end up with great results crownbalding, just give it time.

Receeding or not I think you have a good chance of atleast maintaining what you have now... if not then keep trying to get some duta. If that doesn’t work I feel for you whole heartedly but atleast you tried. That’s all we can do really...

If it makes anyone feel better I think my hair is pretty fucked too
Idk I’m kinda in the same boat as receding. I’m losing hundreds of hairs a day as well. All of my loss started recently though so I need to find what can turn this around before all my follicles die lol.

Short vs long hair makes a huge difference. I think this is the main factor in what you are seeing. I am not doubting you also lost density. Have you had in depth blood tests as well? Such as a hormone profile? Vitamins and minerals?

Hey man, same situation as you know. I’m still holding onto hope that it’s a synchronized shed since my major hairloss didn’t start until recently.

This post helps me https://www.hairlosstalk.com/intera...finasteride-hair-looks-worse-than-ever.98169/

If you go to his profile he actually ended up having success 8 months down the line.

That guy is so lucky! He has been gone from these forums for 2 years now too which means he probably has not been thinking about hair loss at all anymore. I am going to stick with finasteride for a minimum of 12 months but I know the genetics that im playing with and its not in my favour.

Yeah idk he was fine before finasteride and then he got that bad so I guess finasteride can f*** you up before you come back.

Interesting pictures.

You've definitely lost some density, but just like an another user said, it's hard to compare a buzzcut to grown hair.

Even so, you know your own hair better than all of us, but take a look at some perspectives. If you think your hair loss is agressive, then you can start with dutasteride.

You are currently on dutasteride correct? Where were you able to get the prescription from? Did finasteride not work for you either?

Yes. I received a prescription from my dermatologist, because I sent her a really long letter and convinced her with my knowledge.

I was never on finasteride, though.

Any reason why you skipped finasteride and went straight to dutasteride? Has dutasteride been working well for you so far? Do you live in Canada?

I've chosen for dutasteride, because in my humble opinion it's superior to finasteride, while not perfect, and I'm afraid that my hair loss will become agressive. It's all intuition.

I live in The Netherlands.
