hi,
im new to this,
just joined.

i had a 1st consultation today @ vinci clinic in manchester.

a few points i noticed.

there salesman
'said he'd been in the game around 25 years.'
so with his time and involvement came across as very knowledgable.
he'd also had a transplant, it looked ok.

i was asking for and about fue + fue, but mainly fue.
when i asked who the surgeon was, who would be operating on me,
i was told vinci had 5 specialists but mentioned, my doctor would be Dr Vernikos,
he said he only worked on fue, and was a very good surgeon.
he could not remember the surgeons first name though ?
so can not search for info.
Dr Vernikos, i thought worked for somewere else.
and has a terrible report on forums ive read recently.

he mentioned the surgeon was good,

but my designated 1hoursession was up to ask further questions.
i had to leave as the next person had arrived.

since today, ive recieved confirmation.
they said they could fit me in
next month and do it on a saturaday and sunday for 12.5k.

sounds very misty.
can you give me any info on times scales and surgeons.

thanks for reading.
like i say im new to this, two weeks old,
so go easy on the comments.
again thanks if you read.
help!

I've never been to a consultation...but i'll tell you what ran through my mind as I was reading this.

It doesn't sound like this guy really knows his stuff.
If it was me, I would want to talk to the person giving me the transplant, not a salesman.
If I'm going to make a lifelong commitment (as a hair transplant is one), then I want this person to answer any and all questions that I have. If someone "cut me short", then I would find someone else.

Just my $0.02

only got it in my head, since i saw rooneys pic a couple of weeks ago.
must be mad.
i sent the email virtualy within a hour to vinci, (1st one that came up on google)
they replied very promptly, but it took me a week to open.
when i did, they found me a consutation within 2 days.
that being today, and i went.

ive aready had confirmation they can fit me in next month.
16th + 17th, sat+sun.

quoted 2500 graffs @ 12.5k.

gonna ask some more questions before replying on this date.

a dodgy one will cost u less in the short term, but many 1000's to fix up later

do ur research. Theres plenty of forums about transplants where u can ask ppl, and find a good one in ur area. (Ur not even posting in the correct area here )

someone that uses the fact off 25 yrs experience as a selling point, and is desperate to rush u to sign something, is desperate for ur money, and probably has few other customers. (thats why hes desperate)

A good one will not rush u, he will let u speak to the surgeon, not a sales man, and not be desperate for customers, because he already has a good name.

Its a live long decision dude. Think about it b4 u rush in.

is that normal.

Two weeks of research and 1 consultation yep that kind of fast,I would check around and see what the likes of Dr.Rahal or H&W,Dr.Feller or Dr.Shapiro in minnesota had to say these clinics are reputable and recommended by all the forums out there before going futher, they are more but these are just a few that come to mind,if a butcher gets a hold of you- you will wish you had.

Are you on finasteride if not and you get a hair transplant most likely you will lose the hair around the transplant because your not blocking the dht in the male pattern baldness areas and just end up going back for more work more often then not.2500 grafts at 12.5k is 5$ a graft and is fair for strip at most reputable clinics.

I have had a consultation in the past with Paul Oliver from Vinci I on the contrary found him very knowledgeable and extremely helpful, in the seven days after my consultation I sent him 25 emails he answered everyone usually the same day. Because of his help and support I went ahead with my hair transplant and been very happy with the hair growth so far, I would have no problems recommending this company to anyone. I look around the blog sites pretty regularly and can spot when a “stoogeâ€￾ is writing I suspect Newbie probably works for another hair clinic. It’s well known what goes on from some unscrupulous companies. I recently heard Paul on the Jeremy Vine show on BBC radio 2 I do not think the BBC would use somebody who is not very knowledgeable about the subject of hair transplants.

hi hairfan,

i never said, the salesman was unhelpful, nor his replys late.

i found the salesman very helpful, and a nice person.
and i did say he seemed very knowledgable, with no hard selling.

overhall, im sure the vinci clinic are very serious about the future and strive to do the best they can.

if i could find out more info on there doctors, i could do more research.

as you have dealt with this company, maybe you can advice or highlight there surgeons.

they are the most importent and a much skilful part of the business !
which should be shared.

im clearly not a stooge, im asking for input on surgeons and skill,
not a glossary on closing sales chat.

you say you venture over many of these forums and say you can spot
a stooge.
but feel you should comment on this, when there are many articles on dr vanikos from which made me aware of his past.
i was just highlighting the fact that he was the chosen surgeon.
feel free to inform otherwise. you have been there.

thanks

Just to add my 2 pennies worth; one policy I tend to stick to is this; avoid clinics which use sales people instead of consultants or the surgeon as a first point of contact.

Sales people are motivated by commission and not by giving you great advice.

From my experience the clinics where you meet the surgeon and first consult, simply don't need to funnel in more people though professional sales people. Usually, when it's the surgeon's name over the door, their order books are already packed for months ahead and so they care more about keeping that reputation.

I've found this to be true in all kinds of surgical procedures, from hair transplants to boob jobs and gastric bands.

I'm sure it's not a universal law, but for me, looking into the eyes of the person who is going to be sticking knives into my head is right up there on my "must have" list :)
