19yo, Receding Temples. This Is Not A Mature Hairline Anymore, Right?

Hello!

My father and his father are both bald, most men from my mother's side started balding around their 40s.

I started noticing that my temples are receding about a year ago. I started using Alpecin C1 (caffeine shampoo) and taking zinc pills around the same time. I think that my hairline stayed the same since.

I don't think anything would help me regrow my temple hair, but is Alpecin and zinc enough to at least maintain this state for a few more years?

Welcome to the club. If you have started receding at 19, being honest its bad news.. but you never no might be just be a maturing hairline. Keep an eye on it over the next year and if it gets worse get on minoxidil and Caffeine shampoo does nothing for male pattern baldness.

You're like a Norwood 2, I would get on finasteride.

Thank you both guys.

I'll probably consult the finasteride thing with my Doctor. Would like to dodge mino for now, heard some scary things about that one.

Sometimes I wonder if people on this forum purposly want to scare other members because they are in their own misery. I can't see anything alarming on your photos. Slight recesion on the front sure, but nothing alarming or worrying at all. Skip this forum since this sad fuckers will only scare you.

Uneven recession is the key factor here. Also that's horrible advice "nothing alarming or worrying at all" that's a load of bs, get your eyes checked

The dude needs to take action if he wants to stay a fullhead. It doesn't look "alarming" because he hasn't hit the obvious breaking point yet, but that def looks like male pattern baldness. Most pain free path is to take action before you reach the alarming stage

Good on OP for wanting to get ahead of this before it gets bad

lmao get real. We've been through what he's going through. We know what will happen if he doesn't do anything about it. We won't gain anything from him starting treatments. We're just nice guys. Sure, it might sound better to tell him that everything is ok but then he WILL come back here when it WILL eventually get worse and then will probably harbor hatred for anyone who told him that he was fine.

To OP: Your hair is definitely still good but temple recession this early is a sign that you might have aggressive male pattern baldness. Each month for 6 months take pictures of your hair then by the end of the sixth month compare the pictures. If you notice that it got worse then start with the treatments ASAP.

Ofc it will progress (unless he has a very non-aggressive type of male pattern baldness or the luck of it stopping completely). But I dont think its necessary to scare him to death (not saying that you are doing it). He could go bald in 1 year or have the exact same hair 20 years from now.

I know what you mean, but there are people with uneven hairlines that doesnt mean to much (im not saying he is not balding). Search Kit Harrington. Does he look like he is balding? I dont think so. But his hairline is uneven.

And just to make it clear - I'm NOT saying don't take any action. I'm simply saying it's not a disaster yet and don't get to stressed about it (which probably can make matters worse). Most men will experience recession of the hairline/temples and it doesn't go further than a nw3 in many cases as well. But you guys are right, he needs to check it and notice if things get worse. But personaly for me he is fine...for now.

OP looks like he's balding, look at those temples, you can see that its going to further thin, im not trying to convince you or anyone anyways, but saying he isnt balding is horrible advice..

LOL you showing someone with a widows peak as an example, horrible comparison, widows peak and balding are 2 different things.

You dont need to convice me, cause I also agree there is balding going on. Only difference is I don't see it being a disaster (yet).

Finasteride. Take it and forget about it. Nobody but us would notice this and it looks good cause your hair is thick and the upper part of the recession still goes straight back. As opposed to up into your forelock. Only reason it’s noticeable is because you don’t have your temple points any more. You caught it early congrats
