19 Year old needing advice! :)

I'm new to hairloss forums but I've done my research and I'm now taking action to try and stop my receding hairline and thinning crown. Iv'e bought these products from Inhouse.

1 x 18 Strips of Finpecia (Cipla Kumrek Source) 180 Ta GBP £48.27
1 x Nizoral Shampoo 1 x 100ml GBP £10.97
1 x Retin-A Cream 0.05% (Ortho brand) - 1 x 30gm Tube GBP £32.91

I'm thinking about starting my routine in 2 weeks time. I've booked a holiday in 3 months time. My question is when will my head start shedding (if it even does) from the effects of the finpecia? Is shedding common on finasteride and if somone sheds alot of hair is this a sign the fins working more effectively? I'm not really bothered if I do shed allot before and on holiday but just curious.

I'd also like some advice on what dosages and how I should apply the products above.

I'd also like to know what people see as the most cost effective product and whether I should include something else in my planned regime

Wow, wasn't expecting you to be an NW3 based off the first pic. You may experience shedding and you may not, generally rogaine causes some major shedding.

Treatments look fine, you can start with a low dosage of finasteride like 0.5 mg which should minimize any side-effects which are generally temporary anyway.

Whoa, you hide it really well. From the first picture I wasn't expecting anything, but I'd say you're NW3, maybe it's the angle but it looks pretty strong.

It is a good sign as it means it's working. If you want to get some regrowth I'd look into minoxidil. If you get finpecia and that works for you, that's cheap as it is, but you could also look into getting proscar, which you cut into fourths and is much cheaper anyway.

Wow, you amazed me there with your real hairline :mrgreen:, you hide it VERY well, thats some pretty mean "growover". I see your temples are completely bald. It will be hard as hell if not impossible to regrow hair there. But Finasteride should maintain what you have.

I think I naturally have a big forehead and I was born with a fairly big widow peak so it looks like it's receded more than it actually has. I have fairly thick hair where I do have it witch is which is why I think I hide it pretty well. Also I use a matte style product on it. I think I might start on some sort of generic Rogaine.

Do you think I should start the rogaine now or after I go on holiday because I'd rather I didn't shed too much before and on my holiday in 3 months.

Also what are the best generic types of min. I blow dry my hair too (i know its not good for my hair) so I don't know whether min would suit me. How is it applied?

I'd forgo the rogaine for now and stick to finasteride for the next few months, 1. because rogaine is almost guaranteed to cause shedding which is normal but you seemed really worried about it and 2. implementing each treatment separately will give you a good idea which you respond to best.

And you say you have thick hair still despite your recession so the rogaine re-growth may not be necessary right now. The finasteride though is necessary to prevent/slow balding which cannot be accomplished by rogaine alone.

Amazing coverup hairstyle, you're in a great position to do something about it without anybody realising. It's a shame that transplants aren't an option for younger people (I don't actually know your age but you look young) but I suppose it's for the best. I have about 2 inches of growth on top and I buzz the sides of my hair to a 0 and fill in the temple peaks with dermmatch, and also use it to conceal the actual receded parts. Just looks like I've shaved it a little higher than I should have, which is preferable to my previous balding look. Once I have the money, I'm getting MHT, and completely shaving my head, so I don't have to worry about hair any more.

Wow, like everyone has already mentioned the difference between the two pictures is amazing. From the first picture I would say you are the envy of many a hairloss sufferer but you hide the truth really well. Your hairlines receeded quite a bit and it would be very wise to get onto Finasteride ASAP. However, personally I don't think Finasteride will do much in regards to regrowing any of that hairline and will probably take a year before you would notice anything significant. You can take Finateride for a few months and implement Rogaine which is more likely to regrow some of that lost ground or just plunge into the deep end with both of them at the start.

My hair was terrible before I dyed it with henna (caca brun.) It isn't bad for your hair like chemical dye, smells great, acts as a permanent conditioner, and has this brilliant shine in bright lighting. If you just do the caca brun from lush, I doubt anyone will think you've dyed your hair, but it'll look much healthier and shinier. Also,not :gay:
