I'm not sure if this has been a gradual process but lately I think my hair has started to recede...granted this may be because I keep my bangs down and rarely ever see my hairline but for some reason I just keep going back to it. I think the fact that it's kind of uneven is really scaring me, but it doesn't look like other pictures that I've seen so I'm a bit confused. I'm kind of young at 19(almost 20) so I'm reaaaaally hoping I'm just being paranoid but I just want to make sure if I should be starting any medications to prevent future hair loss....

It seems that my hair is thick in every other place, but the uneven hairline is still scaring the crap outta me.

So, if you're actually losing hair, it's not due to male pattern baldness. Usually it starts by your temples receding or thinning on top/crown, but as far as i can see you either have no hair loss and your hair has always been like that, or you have another hair loss condition unrelated to male pattern baldness. It's probably just in your head if you ask me :)

If that small 'bald patch' in the middle gets worse it could probably be Alopecia areata though.

no recession IMO, it just doesn't work like that, most likely ur skull has expanded and your forehead has grown (yes this does happen as you get older)

If it was male pattern baldness you would want to start finasteride between .5mg and 1.25mg daily but I am not sure if it is yet

Thanks for the replies guys! For some clarification, it's not actually my hairline that's receding, but that uneven spot in the middle that was scaring me. I want to get it checked by a dermatologist(or whoever looks at scalps/hair) to see if its alopecia areata(I really hope not) but the replies here have calmed my nerves. Makes me feel a lot better especially during this stress overload that comes with midterm season :)
