Hi there,
I've noticed my hairline taking the widows peak type of look around age 17, and I really haven't spoken to anyone about it becaues everyone I've mentioned that I think I'm losing my hair to thinks I'm crazy. I got my mom to let me see a doctor about it, but I wanna know what you think.

Now some people say they notice it thin when they put gel in it or whatever, i notice it just in the light around the front. My dad's got a full head of hair and he's 52! My mom's side has hairloss, however, and as I've heard that's the side that really counts.

I just find it weird because even the family members that are bald(ing) didn't start losing their hair until later on. I was expecting this when I was like...40 or something.

I got a doctor's appointment tomorrow so I'm pretty psyched about it. I'm pretty much in the same boat as anyone around here, I don't wanna sit around and watch that hairline move back any further or get thinner. I'm tired of seeing so many hairs in the comb and in the drain of the shower. I've got little peach fuzz (although not visable in the picture) where my hairline was when i was like 15. I WANT IT BACK!!

The worst is when it's wet. I know hair looks thinner when it's wet and all, but this one is horrible for me to see.

I was wondering if there was any major side effect with any meds that one might use to fix this?

You are thinning diffusely behind the hairline and extending back through the mid scalp.

Your hairline has also receded a bit, more so in the temple corners than in the center of the hairline

Side effects in minoxidil are rare- a very few people get a bloated face or something like that. It goes away when you stop applying it, so fi this happens to you, you can just stop

Side effects in nizoral are almost non existent.

3-4% of people on finasteride(propecia, proscar) get sexual side effects. This is compared to around 2% of people who were on the placebo during the studies. don't let the sides scare you away from trying something that could work well for you.

Dude! Get on Propecia pronto! No time to waste. Your lucky most of your hairline is still intact so you're not beyond help, you just need to thicken it up a little. Try it for 1 year. After that consider Rogaine Foam if things are not progressing as fast as you would of liked.

course it would. mine never looked as thin wet but it was headed there, and buzzing concealed it so well. buzz cuts are great for diffusers if you like how you look with them- cutting it down short enough eliminates the contrast between thin and thick areas almost completely.

Yeah, well I don't plan on concealing it for the rest of my life. I'm stopping this loss here and now.
