I always had pretty thick hair and my scalp was not visible, I started attending university in September 2012 for my first year, I didn't really notice much in the first month but a a week after my birthday in October while I was shampooing I noticed quite a few strands of hair, when I looked in the mirror my hair appeared drastically less dense (it was wet, but it had never looked this thin when wet before), I got a lab test done in a week or two and everything was normal except my platelet count was low (I already had a history of low platelet count prior I went in for a bone marrow biopsy thrice), monocytes were high and iron was normal ,albeit on the lower end of scale, I also noticed I now had dandruff (never suffered from it before), my hair would continue to fall out throughout the year but I don't know how much my hair density changed from when I first noticed in October, I've been home for about 4 months now and sometimes it seems like the problem is better and sometimes it seems like it hasn't changed, My dad is going bald but he claims no one else in his family was and he's not even completely bald yet and he had hair just 2 year ago, I haven't noticed a receding hairline but my sides feel like there also less dense now

IMG_20130822_170011.jpg Here is a picture do you think it is male pattern baldness , or just some unusual shedding that took place at uni because of a change in surrounding and diet( had to eat at cafeteria all year long basically) It probably didn't help that I started obsessively pulling out hairs

Was this taken under bright lighting? Exactly how obsessively did you pull hair? On first look it appears as diffuse thinning

yes there was bright light and I didn't pull really really hard but I would go right to where the hair was growing out of the scalp and pull there and I would do it at least 10 times a day I would say whenever I was doing something I would just start pulling out some hair

Some thinning there. If you can convince yourself to take finasteride, if you started now, you might never have to worry about it again.
