Hi , I've knoticed my hair has been thinning for the past 2 years and I'm 18 right now. It's become more sparse in the front to where i can see my scalp through my hair. I swear my hair line has receded too. I used to spike my hair but i stopped that ever since my hair began thinning since it doesn't look the same anymore. My dad is bald... and i definatley dont want to be. Can you give me some advice please? ?? :(

i wouldnt use finasteride at 18 either but theres loads of things you can use instead. the most commonly used finasteride substitute is probably revivogen and spironolactone cream. have a look at what people are using on here and what they say about them. youre in the right place at least mate.

He should be done with puberty at the age of 18.... unless he's a late 'bloomer.'

The main concern with finasteride before puberty is finished is the maturation of the sex organs. Other than genitalia, there's no proof that finasteride may cause adverse effects to the human body.... well, from my current understanding.

Anyways, at his age, he should talk to his doctor.

Im 18 and take finasteride (have been for 5 months)

I don't see what the big deal is?? It shouldn't do anything even if you haven't fully "matured"

And yes I talked to my doctor, yes she said I could jump on finasteride :]

However my dad isn't bald, my dad is a nw2 just like me...

In my opinion: YOU SHOULD GET ON finasteride. :freaked2:

DHT is essential for development and growth of the male genital system before they are completely mature and reach their final size

So, it's the basis of my statements and why most doctors will not prescribe propecia to people under 18.

Yes, im 18. Thanks for the input so far. I was wondering since vitamins can help with hair what was anyones thought on taking "Animal Pak".Its supplemental packages of 11 vitamins. I used to work out so bought some and never used it. Also, I have not worked out ever since April, and lost around 20 pounds. I'm 18, and my hair is thinning. I admit my diet latley hasn't been good. I plan on starting to workout again, and taking supplements. Does any supps affect hair loss? Does stuff like brocolli and green tea help block the dht receptors?? well i know theres alot of questions here but I'm desperate for anwswers. Please Help!! Thanks ,

If your dad is bald, I wouldn't think it'll be vitamin deficiency. There are supplements that could affect hair loss adversely (e.g., DHEA.) Deficiencies in iron, zinc, and biotin can adverse effects. Too much vitamin A can cause adverse effects for your hair and overall. There's no real vitamins that can regrow hair - well not any with good science behind it. You can grow your hair "faster" and "thicker" using MSM and biotin, respectively.

If you lost 20lbs and had a bad diet? Do you mean you don't eat much, or had a bad diet like lots of fast food? Thyroid issues can cause hair loss and weight loss (unexpected weight loss and gain).

I wouldn't blame any single thing until you talk to a doctor. It would appear your hair loss is to blame from your father's side. You may want to ask him when he experienced his first hair loss. Sometimes you can guess your eventual Norwood with that method.

Well first off thanks for replying. Secondly no, no bad dieting.. i had a good diet while i was workin out, i pretty much bulked up a little, was in good shape but in april i strayed away from the gym. Therefore these past few months I lost 20 pounds of muscle due not working out, and not eating what i used to while i did workout. Recently I haven't been eating as much as did.

My dad is bald. He began loosing his hair around the same time I did, or early 20's. I just hope i don't have to face the same outcome.

I been seein all these different products claiming to stop hair loss and grow ur hair back.. is there any credibility here?

My hair is becoming more sparse in corners and front . I used to be able to spike my hair but now I don't since it doesn't look the same as it did 3 years ago. Well, my as of now no one else knotices the thinning except for me, but I really want to do something about it before it gets to the point where people can. I've knoticed the gradual change and thinning of my hair for sometime now. I swear my hair line has receded too.

Please any input and info is Greatly appreciated
