Hello everyone, I don't know where else to go to tell my story and ask for suggestions, so I'm here. I am 17, I have been balding since I was 14, my father's bald, every men, 90% of them are bald on my father's side of the family, same goes for my mother's side, my older brother, aged 22, is practically a NW4~5. Once again, I am 17, I have been taking 1mg finasteride daily and rogaine 5% foam daily for the past two months, not a single result. I have very curly hair, I look like a clown with my balding ( I straighten my hair daily because of this). This has brought my self-confidence to zero. I have a beard that grows thick and stubbly just overnight, and very coarse, I have hair on every square inch of my body, I can barely see my skin, and I'm just 17. I cry and cry from time to time, because I just want to be like everyone else, and this really sucks. My temples are receded majorly, I have a HUGE bald spot on my crown area, I didn't post any pictures of that because I simply didn't want too. I can't turn to Hair Transplant yet, I'm just 17, I've been waking up without a morning wood, no sexual desire AT ALL because of the finasteride, I am starting university soon, and I can't be the only kid on campus who's a NW5 at age 18. I can't buzz my head or go bald completely, because I have had surgery as a new born on my head, which leaves a huge scar going all around my head with no hairs growing on it. I need help. I would appreciate each and every comments on this forum. Thank you all.

It took a while for finasteride to show results. Have you spoke to your doctor about your finasteride use, afaik it isn't recommended for under 18s.

Eh I would see a derm and maybe in another year or two get on dutasteride to prevent any more loss. If your history is that bad then I think you see your fate so I would use the strongest options we have, but of course see a professional first. You just need to survive for a few more years until we get something better.

Hey, I think you should definitely consult a family physician. Perhaps it's not just regular balding and there may be underlying issues. Also, if you decide to just stick it out I would just shave the hair off. Simply because even if you straighten it, it's appears very unaesthetic and I think shaving it off may be better than to leave your hair at that state. My personal 2 cents.

You obviously have very high DHT levels as well as very DHT sensitive androgen receptors. I don't think there's much danger of you getting any side effects, so yeah, I agree with abcdefg, I would get on finasteride at a minimum, maybe dutasteride to lower your DHT, and use topical spironolacetone to block the androgen receptors on your hair follicles. Minoxidil too to promote hair growth. You need to go all out on this thing.

Guys, the OP is reporting sexual sides from finasteride, so you recommend dutasteride/spironolactone? Madness!

At your age it's brutal; I feel for you. Visible results can take up to 2 years, not 2 months, and you're having side effects already. Consider this: sometimes male pattern baldness genetics are far too aggressive for any treatment that's out there. Maybe you need to start thinking about this. See a doctor about the side effects. Good luck.

def. ditch the finasteride my dude. finasteride ruined me.. i took it at 19 and have been impotent now i'm 25. you don't want this life. if anything, what you need to do is stop eating **** food, start working out and building your body (which in turn will help your health issues) and eat just vegetables, protein, and healhy fat. that will slow down your hairloss.. and drink enough water and stop fapping definetely.

Thanks for the replies guys.. at least, there has been tons of miniature hairs growing, so I've been using biotin to hopefully promote the growth. I'll post back pictures every month from when I first started this thread.
