OMG thank you so much. The very reason I entered this forum was because of my dermatologist. When I met her sh asked me to lift my hair up. She saw my hairline and asked if my father was balding? I said yes, and then she declared that I WAS BALDING. This just freaked me out, and I've been totally out of my world since then. Like holy ****, you will not believe the amount of trauma I went through. Now after all your comments, I find that she was a ****ty derm. I'm sorry for using that kind of language, but I believe I was wrongly diagnosed. Thank you so much guys. I pray for everyone to get better and better.

Yes. It is always adviceble for young men to go to a dermatologist, but they are not god seers.

In many cases as yours when you are only 17 and have extremely little to zero signs of hairloss they can be wrong and she was very precipitate. You have always to hear different dermatologists and go for good ones. I am completely sure that other doctor would have looked at your hair and just calm you down.

They don't know how shocking is to hear for a teen that you are balding. And it is not true. The real answer is that you will or you will not but right now your hair is great.

Logically, if your dad is bald you have bigger odds, but he started to bald at 40!!!! And your mother's side is out of baldness.

For your case the main attitude is conservative. Haircare and monitor.

Yep, I've had a really bad dermatologist before. The ones who don't check your hair or simply glance it over are the worst.

Your hair is not diffuse thinning at all (like me), and your hairline just appears to be normal. Not everybody is going to have a baby hair line where they have temples filled in drastically. I think you're fine buddy, maybe if it recedes in the next year I'd get on medication, but don't sweat it lol.

View attachment 31051View attachment 31052 These two were taken last year. The first is the buzz cut and the second is when I let it grow.
View attachment 31053 This is now when I do a little styling with my BARE HANDS. When I just move the hair and stuff.
And this, pretty self-explanatory. PULLED BACK ->View attachment 31054
Combed to one side-> View attachment 31055
This is just pulling the frontal hair up->View attachment 31056

Yeah, this is all my "long hair".. Please gimme your opinions now...

Oh cool, THUMBNAIL PHOTOGRAPHS!

Balding kind of miniaturisation?

Also, I don't notice any kind of hairloss(thankfully). No hairloss or itching at all.... The hair doesn't come out (not more than 2 hairs or 3) when pulled....

Yeah looks like some.minor receding. Definitely could be a mature hairline but IMO I don't believe in a mature hairline and then no further blading... Either way if you're comfortable buzzing it, it seems like it shouldn't bother you anyways..

I saw a couple people recommend getting a buzz cut, is it true that if you get a buzz cut your hair grows back thicker?

Last year it was also longer. You still have it very thick.

Wait for 2 weeks so as to get a similar length and update better pictures. From in front (with your whole face, just erase your eyes or something like that in order not to be recognized), from above...

Do a lot of good quality pictures. However, you look nice, really.

Just found this picture from THREE years back. Are my temples at the same place as they were then? This was 3 years back when I had long hair. Also, I shall post the TWO weeks photos in the next reply so that I can hopefully get a final verification before I leave this forum for a few months.Aviary Photo_130712389694098648.jpg Please observe very closely.

So have my temples always been like that according to you? I get paranoid because in some angles it looks bad. Like when I part my hair (now that it's grown a little) in a particular way, it looks like there's been tremendous recession. However, comparing my hairline with the above that is three years back, it looks the same. It also looks the same as last year, as many of you have pointed out. And there's isn't miniaturization, thankfully and my temples come unscathed of the hair pull test as well. I guess it's all in my mind. Am I going paranoid over nothing then?

You are only 17 so finasteride is NOT a recommedation.
You should look into using minoxidil 5% and look for results. If their are results then BINGO your doubts are cleared.
minoxidil would grow nothing if you had no hair hair in the first place.

You have a 50% chance of balding. Only time will tell how you will lose it all.
My father personally was a NW2 till 45 and now he is thinning in a NW5 pattern.
I started at 16. Now im a NW2 with frontal diffuse thinning.
