Hey Vinny, welcome back. I was hoping you woulda gone on with your thick haired life. But you saw your scalp under some bright lights did you? Well even on people with really thick heads of hair who haven't been affected by the baldness gene whatsoever, the hairs will never be touching each other but they'll be a little bit apart. It's probably always been like that, but you;re noticing it now because you've been visiting hairloss sites and getting neurotic. I wouldn;t sweat it. As for the Nizoral, its very odd that they don;t sell 2%, are you in Canada? I thought it was prescrip[tion only in the States, but that must have changed. Either way, 1% should be available in any pharmacy, so maybe try another one. If you get 2% make sure you don;t overuse it, and it won;t regorw any hair, for the record. Good luck with that, and don;t hang around the bright lights!

Ah yeah I'm back. But hey, I went from visiting the site everyday to once a week. It's a start! Yeah I know it doesn't actually regrow hair, but it cleans up pores blocked from sebum (?) or something like that, which would then make those blocked hairs come out. I'll keep looking around for the 1%.

VinnyVedici,

About a year ago, I had a very similar hair thickness with a hairline like that. Now, My hairline is even further back and very thin compared to how I use to be. Most folks here seem to think that its fine. I for one am going to be honest with you. It looks to me that its following the same pattern mine did. If I were you I would talk to your dermatologist as soon as he/she gets back from vacation. I wish I started treatment back when I first noticed it. My hair is not bad right now. My hair is reasonably thick with not TOO much recession in the front. But still, it sucks compared to how I use to have it. Right now I'm scared to get a haircut because I dont know if the receding hairline will show and make it look like sh*t. I hope this doesnt happen to you so please speak to your dermatologist. Like everyone else is saying, start using Nizoral every 3 days.

Best of luck.

Hey guys just a quick question. How can I tell if I'm thinning on the top?

I'm not really sure what to look out for and under what conditions (lighting).

Thanks!

Ah, well I wasn't really sure. When I push my hair back, under some pretty strong lighting I can see the scalp. I guess it is normal, right?

Just took a shower and tried looking at my wet hair under 3 different types of lighting.

Dark lighting, obviously looked fine.
Normal lighting, looked pretty thick, couldn't see scalp much.
Pretty bright washroom lighting, scalp can be seen, not too much, but it's there.

Is it normal that the scalp shows under bright lighting? With both wet and dry hair, I can see a bit of scalp with the hair combed back. I'm pretty sure it is normal since under normal/comfortable lighting, hardly any scalp is seen.

I also think that my curly hair could be part of the reason that some scalp is seen. The curls sort of move out of position and shows the scalp lines.

Any answers would be great.

Also, what do you guys think about Head and Shoulders for dandruff?

Pictures as of today. Looks like everything stayed as it was a month ago. I know it seems stupid but I'm just trying to keep a month by month kind of journal of my hair, to see progression or loss.

Hair is combed back, and dry in all pictures.

Just a couple of questions:

1) How many hairs do we shed daily? Lately I've been noticing hairs falling out (ex: reading a magazine I saw about 5-6 hairs in the span of maybe 30 minutes or so). Is it normal to shed this much? In the shower I'll shed maybe 5-10 hairs.

2) Will more hairs fall out if you play with your hair? Lately I've gotten a habit of pushing my hand through my hair and I've noticed more hairs falling out. It could be that I'm just pulling out hairs that were ready to fall, or could it be something else? I'd like to clear this up, as I don't know much about shedding.

3) Is it normal that there are lil' spots on the front hairline that are more thinned out than others? If I hold my hair back, my hairline is sort of ridged or "chewed up".

4) Does having dandruff cause more hair to shed?

All I see are guys with full heads of hair complaining about hairloss. If you consider that to be balding then what the f@ck am I, a god damned alien thats what. Stop waisting everyones time and insulting these good people who are truly suffering from hairloss, please.

:agree:, you could shove a rake in that hair and it would support it. Vinny, the only way you;re probably going to lose any hair is if you worry about it 24/7. That's one of the best heads of hair I've ever seen, anywhere....let alone on a hairloss site. I know you;re only 16 and for some unknown reason, legitimately worried, but it's almost insulting to look at those pics.

I'm am extremely sorry if I am upsetting or insulting anyone here. I'm just worried and have many questions and I post here since I find many of the answers. Once again I am sorry.

BTW, I used Nizoral 2% for the first time today. Is it normal that I shed more hair than normal in the shower? Though it has been about 3 days since I last washed my hair. Hopefully anyone who's used it before can answer that for me. I got a bit scared.

huh? u might NOTICE more if you shower once every 3 days than if you shower everyday...but u wont lose any more or any less. the hairs you lose on the days you dont shower will just be tangled up in your hair...and when you shower and shampoo youll notice hairs falling.

Yeah I thought so. It's cos' I shower pretty much everyday, though I only shampoo the hair every 2-3 days. I noticed more hair than usual falling out today, it may have been the hairs that were tangled.
