I agree. Use nizoral for now and watch it. 16 is to young for a prescription medication of any kind unless its something life threatening. In a few years if you decide to try propecia for heavens sake see a dermatologist that specializes in hair problems and run everything by him including your family history and get some blood tests if you can afford it. Theres no point in doing anything stupid keep in mind there much worse problems. Hairloss sucks and is very depressing but keep it in perspective. You can create health problems much worse then hairloss so I advise you remember that.

I guess I'll purchase Nizoral shampoo and start using it. Hopefully I don't experience any further hair loss.

BTW, how many times a week should I use Nizoral? 1% or 2%?

lol.....I knew someone would tell you to get on finasteride. Its not some candy that guarantees you keep your hair for the rest of your life as long as you take it. You're too young for that, hell...you;re probably not even done growing. STAY AWAY from that stuff. Honestly...I'm saying this for your own good.. Stay away from this site. You'll freak out. What most of the people are telling you is 100% true. You are NOT thinning at all. Almost evry white male will get that hairline even without any mbp. NO ONE wuold think you're losing your hair. You're way too young to be on here, and you have way too much hair to be concerned about this at your age. Yes, some 16 year olds start to visibly lose their hair, i've seen it, and with these pooe people, you can tell they're going to lose their hair. This is simply not the case with you, you just can;t tell. You;re mind is playing tricks on you and comming on here and participating in hairloss discussions with people that actually HAVE hairloss isn;t helping one bit. This place is like the equivalent of bullemics for skinny people. Use Nizoral 1% twice a week. It's pretty strong stuff, and since you''re hair is so thick, I'd use the 1% as a small precaution. Now get the hell out of here and enjoy that thick mop of hair knowing that in many years IF you start losing your hair (which you might not) you'll be welcome back with the comfort of there being some good alternatives to really slowing the process down. Best of luck, and (I mean this in a nice way) hope to never hear from you.

I guess after reading many threads and posts on these forums I got really scared. I mean, I never though hair loss would be so scary! I'm glad understand what hair loss is now, and how to treat it. I feel for those guys in my age group who have no clue about it and once it hits them, they won't know what to do!

Thanks once again guys!

This picture was taken around the end of September/early October. As you can see the receding was there but I don't know if it got worse. Anyways that's how I used to keep my hair, maybe it affected the receding.

BTW, over the weekend I looked at the older men in my family. My dad and uncles all have full heads of hair. My older brother has a full head of hair. Most males have hair, so hopefully male pattern baldness hasn't caught me. Other than that, are you guys sure that this is most likely a maturing hairline?

I also just read this article which made me feel better about the recession.

A thick head of hair? No visible signs of MBP? A dad, uncles and an older brother with full heads of hair? Any thoughts?? Yeah, I'm thinking of bottling up my urine, putting some cinnamon in it and selling it as a hairloss treatment since every male on the planet is apparently going bald.

Ahh. I'm sorry man. It's just that I get worried over the smallest things. I guess I jumped the gun a lil' (my mind is playing tricks though!) and went a bit crazy.

I mean I really am going crazy. I'll look in the mirror, and my hairline seems fine. I'll look 5 minutes after, and it looks like it receded about 5 inches. Really seeing things that are making me crazy!

no need to appologize at all.....this is a safe haven. We're all suffering from the same thing (well, you're not lol.) I remember when my mind would play tricks on me...hell it still does. Everyone is their own worst critic. Hairloss has really only bothered me twice in my life. Both times was when i was an active poster on these baords. I strongly suggest you take a vacation from here. It will do wonders for you to not have to read the words "thinning, receeding, and bald" 100 times a day. Thats probably a massive part of your insecurity.

I guess you're right. I got really scared when I saw my receding hairline so I came to these boards to get some opinions from others (since all my family said was "it's nothing, you won't go bald"). Most of you guys know what you are talking about and I believe what I experienced was a "maturing hairline" (hopefully!). I also got into this habit of feeling my hair and looking at everyone's hair also!

So perhaps this forum is the culprit to my victimized insecurity.

your hairline is similar to mine, makes me glad im not the only one my age with a high hairline

Been looking at a lot of guys at school in our age group. We aren't the only ones. Most guys with facial hair have similar hairlines like mine. I stopped worrying about it for now. In a couple of years if I notice thinning, then I'll start battling hair loss.

Dr P sez: A wise decision. In many males, there is a natural transition that occurs in the mid to late teens from an adolescent/female hair line (straight across in front) to an adult hair line (slightly receded, generally with regression in the temples to form a "widows peak"). This should not be mistaken for pattern loss.

Just keep a close eye on it. Take pictures and if it gets worse by 18 then you can consider treating it. I think you're okay for now but I would still watch it.

A couple of days ago I got pretty scared, but then I noticed my stupidity. I was in the washroom looking at my hair under bright lighting. So I was thinking, "what the hell, my hair IS thinning!" I then realized that I was practically under three spotlights whichmade my scalp easily visible. Under normal lighting, it looked nicely thick.

Just a question. I went to a local drug store, and they only have 2% Nizoral. Would it be too strong for my scalp? Is 1% better for my problem? I have some pretty bad dandruff (flakes, itchy scalp) and also the possibility of hair regrowth (from Nizoral) would benefit me in both ways.

1% or 2%?
