Hello everyone, this issue is affecting me extensively, im terrified of getting horseshoed by my late 20´s, wich would worsen my appearance dramatically, since the back of head has always been slightly deformed.
Im male, almost 22 years old, got roughly a Norwood 1.5, no bald spots nor thinning in the crown yet.
So,
Besides a slightly elevated frontal hairline, with a minor widowspeak shape in the middle, there is no noticable hairloss to be seen from the naked eye. However, when I got diagnosed in April 2016 there was no visual balding but the trichoscan camera detected vellus hair all over my scalp instead. Results were conducted via a 0.903cm² (140 in² )Trichoscan;
The results were; 26.5 % thick vellus hairs
73,5% thick terminal hairs
308 hairs in total on 0.903cm² (140 in² ).
64,2 % Anagen, 35.8 % Telogen
vellus hair density: 78.6 /cm²
terminal hair density: 218.1 /cm²
density of hair total: 341 /cm²
The dermatologist said the hair wasnt balding yet, but some hairs grew way slower than normal.
Then 1 year later after 13 months of Finasteride - I´ve always been consequently taking it in daily - I went to another trichoscan checkup, with the following results:
47.9 % thick vellus hairs,
52.1 % thick terminal hairs
431 hairs in total on 0.903cm² (140 in² ).
64,7 % Anagen, 35.3 % Telogen
vellus hair density: 219.2 /cm²
terminal hair density: 201.5 /cm²
density of hair total: 477.1 /cm²
the doctor said baffled that finasterid doesnt work at in my case. I cannot really believe it though. He´s a professional Doctor, but he aint know everything about hair loss either since their are still so many mysteries about it. I dont know, after 1 year of finasteride, Vellus and Terminal are now almost 50/50 in %, yet the hair density per 0.903cm² (140 in² ) has increased ?. Seems like vallus hairs popped out of my skull, since the total amount of hair per 0.903 cm² has increased. I really have no clue what to think about this. Is my hairloss unhamperedly progressing, is my hairloss slowing down or even stopped ?. Can new vallus hairs emerge from the scalp with finasterid ?
Sorry if it´s a drudgery to read, but have to get used to write in forums again and this issue really effects me badly and if there are any doctors on this forum, I´d like to here view.
