I started losing my hair at 15 and I'm now 27. I started off using Minoxidil 5% liquid which worked amazing! Slowly however, over time, its lost its efficacy and now 12 years later, I am very very thinned out and my hairline has moved back about an inch.

Over the years, I've also introduced the following:
1. Switched from liquid to foam
2. Added Nizoral shampoo
3. Used copper peptides.
4. Kept my scalp loose with scalp exercises.

The one thing which I told myself I'd never do is take Finasteride as I don't want to mess with my body chemistry and I think it might be dangerous for my kids/wife and I don't want to risk it.

My question for you all is:
1. Is there anything I can do topically that will help lower DHT in the scalp that anyone has really had any success with?
2. Are there any other growth stimulants that I can use that will help bring back the Minoxidil to be more affective? I started on 10% minoxidil from perfect image solutions right before the FDA shut them down.

Any help would be REALLY appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

It did a decent job for at least 7 or 8. Initially, it really was incredible. Using only once a day I got all of my hair back in about 3 months. I think the younger you use the stuff the better it works. Over the past 4 years though, I've really thinned out a lot. I may be able to post pics here in a while (pressed for time at the moment). Could you expand on what those two letter abbreviations mean?

RU - ru58841
CB - CB-03-01

both are TOPICAL anti-androgens which are at least as effective as oral finasteride...

I remember reading about ru58841 a while ago. Have either of these been tested for safety or efficacy?

CB was tested for safety and it was proven to be safe.

RU wasn't although plenty of people are using it and aren't reporting any side effects....

Interesting...care to give some proof of this?

no official study has been done on RU but a lot of people are reporting good results after finasteride wears off....

CB:

Thanks for detailed info. Is this something people on the forum are actively trying out (i.e. Is it purchasable?). Is there any estimate on when this will be out of FDA trials?

Also, if this isn't available for use, is there anything else that is that you would recommend?

yes although it's expensive and you have to mix chemicals yourself...

RU - don't know, probably never.
CB - couple years for Europe for ACNE which should still work for male pattern baldness.

So why aren't more people on these then? I know they're still in the developmental stages and somewhat expensive.

You seem very certain that they are at least as effective as finasteride and without sides (CB at least) so why haven't more people made the switch? In fact I remember both drugs being very hyped not too long ago but the talk seem to have subsided now..

excuse my scepticism :shakehead:

I told you: RU and CB are much more expensive than finasteride plus when you buy them, you only get the actual chemical which you then have to mix it yourself. Also, some labs sell fake chemicals so a lot of people don't want to risk their money.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of... There really is no good DHT solution except for Finasteride or dutasteride at this time...
