Maybe Optimist is referring to the potential of further recession in the lateral hump areas, which if occured over time, puts him into the class seven category. There would be a visible "stripe" or what appears to be a ring between the previously transplanted hair and the point of recession on the rim. It's when the recipient area begins to start looking like an island because the rim continues to drop lower. And with tech's dark hair, it could be more noticable.

That being said, if tech does not have family history of class 7's, then Jayman makes a good point. And I think he is saying, why not enjoy the coverage now when you can, IF you feel strongly about not progressing to class 7. It's not a perfect science of prediction. but what in life is?

Just my opinion but I think most people agree with me that it is very unlikely that Tech would ever progress to class 7, even if he does have some in his family, which most people don't., because Tech is on finasteride. 7's are pretty rare when compared to 6's. 80% of horseshoes that I see are 6's and not 7's.

Gillenator and Jayman,

No one from my dad and mother's side ever went beyond NW4.

(I have seen and known only my grand-dads on both sides).

I don't think you have anything to worry about then in using your remaining 3000. , plus you're on finasteride anyway. your prerogative but i think gillenator and i agree that you'd get a huge cosmetic difference from using your remaining grafts apparently and then you'd be set for life.

Good point Jayman but I see just as many class 7's as 6's. I also think FUE could fill in the gaps in his future don't you?

Tech, it's good to hear no one went past class 4.

I did my first hair transplant in 1996 and then did not do the second one until 2001 because child support was far more important to me than my hair. Kids come before grafts if you know what I mean.

But if I could have afforded it back then, I would have had more done.

Looks good man - and very natural. Should just keep getting better from here.

Continued success.

looking good,
do you mean to say I have no regrowth at all. I believe I had satisfactory results.
Did you see all my pictures.
I still have some sprouts coming through.

That's good to hear at 11 months. Your results are satisfactory. The hair style looks natural. I do agree with Jayman that you should utilize Toppik. It would really substantiate the result.

hairtomorrow and looking good, thanks.

Jayman and lookinggood,
I would probably look good with toppik. But I hate toppik. It feels like wearing a wig and I hate the irritation that I get from it.

Understood but realize there are many other cosmetic products you can use. All roads dont lead to Toppik.

tech,

I know what you mean. I wish we had the effective meds back when I first started losing hair too. :hairy:

Gillenator,

Just curious how long have you been on the meds and have you at least maintained/regrown at all??

Just curious because I caught my diffusing early(Not noticeable) and am hoping to at the very least maintain but I'm wondering how long I'm gonna

Thanks

lucy923,

Been on the finasteride for 11 years and yes it has stabilized my loss ever since. No noticable re-growth though, just maintaining what I have.

It's good that you got started early in your regimen. I wish I could have had the meds back when I first started noticing my hairloss.

wow you still have the same hair you had 11 years ago, or you lost a little ground do you mean?? Any what type of hairloss do you have, diffuse, receding??

Man if I could maintain my hair 11 more years that would put me at almost 40 with great hair which would be awesome and by then cloning will most likely be out.

Are you on anything else besides finas???

Yes, my hairloss has not changed for the last 11 years which I attribute to finasteride. I was at a class 5 with my hairline receded greatly and also had some areas that were diffusiing and ready to go. My crown has not changed although Dr. Shapiro told me that he saw more fuzzy regrown hair that really was not benefitting me in any way for visual coverage. So my crown is a bit thin but not gone by any means.

Most of my grafts from four procedures went from my frontal section up to the crown. So out of a grand total of 6900 grafts, about 400 or so went to the crown, and I still use minoxidil and Toppik in my crown.

awesome....so I'm guessing your a pro meds guy?? Do you think most guys can maintain what they have for at least 10 years if they catch it early. I am just hoping and praying I can as I just have mild diffuse thinning and caught it pretty early. If I could maintain just 10 years I would be ecstatic.

In all honesty, patients respond differently to meds. That being said, I know of countless men who have been on Propecia ever since it was released and they have maintained like me. As you know, there are no guarantees. Only time will tell.

Techproof congratulations! Huge improvement and you deserve much more considering all the treatments you have tried or are trying.

I am following in your boat and will probably get a hair transplant in the future.

Did you get any BHT? I forgot. Also, are you using Rogaine foam right now?

How many hairs do you shed in the shower at the moment and how many did you use to shed before hair transplant and before getting on treatments?

Please keep us posted.

You should start a thread on hairsite in the hair transplant section where Dr. A advertises. I can't log on there for some reason since David changed the forum layout.

tembo,
thanks. I never had significant shed after starting finasteride/dutasteride.
The worst shed I had recently was when I stopped xandrox 15 for six months and used the foam twice a day.
Now I am back on xandrox 15 for the last 4 months and I am gaining most of those lost hairs in the front.
I did post in hairsite, but Dr. A is probably in vacation.

hey tech,

I wanted to ask you if you have noticed the fact that others do not have as much eye drift as before you had the procedure grow out.

hey gillenator,
I am not sure if I understand what you mean. Can you be more specific?

Before I had any hair transplants, people used to have eye drift at my hair, meaning they used to notice what was missing.
