1 year on minoxidil, should I quit?

I'm really torn on what to do. I have been using rogaine foam 5% for one full year twice a day on my hair line. It has not added any hair at all. In fact, my hair looks much worse today than it did one year ago.

I had no real shedding issues nor was the hair line thinning quickly - in hindsight I shouldn't have bothered starting it. But alas, I did use it and now my hair line is much much worse and I shed so much everyday. It has thinned out and I've lost at least a half inch of my hairline.

My question is: Should I stop rogaine? Did it eat my hairline? Or should I stay on it because it may be helping keep the hairs in place?

And/or once I stop I'll get a really terrible shed since the hairs grew dependent on it since I used it for a year? Please any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Are you on finasteride as well? If not then it sounds more like your baldness is just progressing, rather than minoxidil doing any damage.

Unfortunately, you probably have to get a concentrated minoxidil solution, and add some anti androgen to the mix. For the hairline, 5% is probably just not enough, twice a day. But I don't think it's causing your hair to fall out faster.

Hi K9GATTON

Would you please tell me what kind of 30 % minoxidil you use ? I've read in another thread it helps you regrowth of hairline for 1cm which is good. What is your source please?

If I were you I would just stick with it. I've tried quitting using Minoxidil in areas that were decent before I even started Minoxidil and they look even worse when I stop.
