Hey all, genuine newbie to this community!
First off just a little Propecia to those who provided all the usefull information that is found on this site.
I am 28, fairly active in life and after much debating on which way to go I have finally decided to try and start combatting my hairloss issue. A side of info here: after months of pondering my situation I visited with consultant to a hair transplant surgeon in the New England area to see how realistic my expectation of such a procedure were. Going into I was prepared to make financial sacrifices inorder to reach a certain goal but quickly came to realize that what I wanted was unrealistic. After some soul searching I decided that I would be happy with the way I am now if I could hold onto it and maybe add some fullness to the top of my head. Obviously hairline improvement would be great but better strength and fullness would make me happier.
On the scales that I have seen I am probably a Norwood 3ish with brownish to light brown hair. My hair was always thin but in my younger days I just had more of it and a good hairline ( got my moms light hair...lol, my dads got a friggin fern on his head at 56 yrs old).
I am currently one month into Propecia and Nizoral 1% shampoo and obviously nothing new to report. I think my epxectations are level headed and dont expect any changes for 4-6 months down the road anyways(maybe longer). Luckily unlike some stories I have read here I am fortunate enough to have visited a dermotologist who is involed with helping people cosmetically and had an interest in bettering my situation. He proceded to tell me in general terms that he is involed with a reseach group in MA and that new developments in hariloss would arise in the next couple of years. There was no talk of cell multiplication or even dutasteride but even if he was bound to secrecy it was encouraging to hear his positive tone.
I tooks some pics today with wet hair (man was I shocked) and will take some later on with dry hair inorder to track progress. Sometime down the road I will try and post them.
Thanks for all the info once again and goodluck to all!
