1.25 finasteride EOD?

Is this ok

I figure its enough to have an effect and low enough to keep side effects to a minimum

I've taken 1.25mg finasteride (cut up Proscar) daily for six years with no noticeable side effects and have maintained my hair. Unfortunately I also took Accutane for awhile, which thinned it, as well as an hair transplant, which thinned it. Ya can't win.

wait.. you took it for six years?? i haven't seen anyone who has been on it for that long yet. and was the hair transplant/ accutane before you started taking propecia, and propecia has maintained what you had after them, or were they during your 6 year treatment?

• Started finasteride in Spring of '98. Hair stayed in a holding pattern, til...
• Took Accutane for a few months in '00 and had some thinning. It appeared to grow back a bit, but an hair transplant the same year made sure it stayed thin.

These days, with Toppik, my hair looks ok. The scalp is not visible, but the hairs are very fine & limp, unfortunately.

Been on 1.25 for a few weeks now, and I'm following the normal pattern of hoy-nay-ness and pimples, but no side-effects yet.

there is a whole world of people out there who have been taking much bigger doses for around 12-14 years (for BPH)

I think X5o has been taking it for than 10 years for male pattern baldness

Most people take 1.25, give or take a milligram here and there... so yes... it will be OK

so every other day on 1.25 finasteride is ok?????? really need this drug but with 1.25mg everyday the depression and loss of libido was REALLY BAD for me, would every other day work with lower sides?

Give it a shot cruiser. It will probably still inhibit some DHT and lower your sides.
