My dad is also a NW7, so the odds are not in my favor. Plus, I had to do something to deal with my anxiety. My dermatologist and I decided that taking finasteride was an appropriate treatment, even if more preventative in nature.
I’m going on 1.5 years on finasteride with no noticeable sides. I haven’t noticed much change either way, but the recession doesn’t appear to be accelerating which is good. I post partially for feedback but also to let those on the “fince” that not everyone expériences sides.
I say go for it. What helped me mentally was just going with all 3, minoxidil, nizoral and finasteride. Then I knew I was doing all that I could do aside from a hair transplant, which I can’t afford right now and don’t think I need yet.
It’s just generic. I’m not sure who the maker is.
Happy New Year! I recently got a new phone with a better camera so I thought I'd start 2021 with some new progress pics.
My regimen has remained mostly the same since September 2018: finasteride 1x/day, minoxidil 1x/day and nizoral 2x/week.
Yeah I'm going to start back dermarolling - I need to order a new one. I'm not sure how often the needles should be replaced.
Regarding BDD, yes, you're correct. I've been to therapy which has helped a bit. Starting finasteride helped as well. At least I know I'm doing as much as I can do at this...
Progress update: I'm about a year into finasteride. No side effects. I'm still shedding and my temples are a little concerning, but they don't seem to be getting much worse. I've slacked on the dermarolling...should I pick back up on that?
I've been on finasteride for about a month now. Thankfully I haven't experienced any noticeable sides. I'm using minoxidil once a day and dermarolling once a week
I know I can't expect results instantaneously, but I'm really discouraged by my temples. They seem to be thinning more rapidly. Every time I...
I only use it two times per week and haven't noticed any major drying. My skin/scalp is fairly oily as is, so a little drying wouldn't be the worst thing to happen to it. I use plain Head & Shoulders shampoo on other days. Should I use something else?
I'll definitely do away with the biotin. I...
After a year of minoxidil, I decided to bite the bullet and give finasteride a try per the recommendation of my new dermatologist. He instructed me to continue using the minoxidil once per day.
I'm only 5 doses in, but so far no adverse effects from what I can tell.
What should I continue doing in...
I'm 29 now. I know I should consider myself fortunate to have what I have. I just found out my derm moved to a different hospital, so I will set up an appointment with a new one to see if they can prescribe it for me.
I'm resurrecting this to share an update. I've been on my regimen of minoxidil foam 2x/day, dermarolling 1x/week, nizoral shampoo 2x/week and, until recently, biotin 3x/week (read that it wasn't really worth it). My dad is bald, so I'm trying to stay on top of things. I saw my derm last month and he...
