This a classic case of causation/correlation. There's no scientific data behind this so don't worry. If anything caps/hats (with the right material) protect your hair from the damaging sun rays and there's actual science behind this.

Eliminate stress, eat healthier, get more sleep and keep an eye on your hair in the meantime. Until you turn 18 if it gets worse visit a derm and start a treatment plan. Thanks for the feedback guys but I'm pretty sure I've got diffuse thinning. It's the places in my scalp where there is very tiny hairs, you can see the difference in the concentration of hair follicles in the problem areas. Hoping that the treatment goes well. Fingers crossed.
