28M - Give it to me straight, too late?

Unless you're a hyper responder, finasteride won't do much in your case. At this point if you want to have any sort of coverage you will more than likely need to get a hair transplant. You should see a reputable transplant surgeon in your area and have your donor area assessed. Personally I...

Oral 1mg Finasteride after 7 years use

It's the same weekly exposure to the drug on average (3.5mg), so in theory there shouldn't be any difference between taking it on alternate days and half the dosage daily. The net concentration of finasteride at the tissue level should be identical.

    .25mg finasteride journey

This is true as a general rule of thumb. There are people on more extreme regimens such as HRT, and they in some cases regrow their entire hairline. You'd have to be completely insane to do that though. Same thing happened to me; I take 1mg EOD and it froze my hair loss in place, but some of...

    .25mg finasteride journey

In the traditional balding pattern (not diffuse thinning), the hair closer to your hairline is more sensitive to androgens. This is why it's the first thing to go. Even on treatments, you will more than likely lose a good chunk of your hairline over the years (unless you have mild hair loss)...

EVERYONE Will Get Finasteride Side-Effects Eventually

Is the full article available anywhere? It's hard to interpret this information without access to their methodologies. For example, they did not compare these men to control groups, IE, men that have persistent sexual dysfunction but did not take finasteride, and men without persistent sexual...

Why is my hair so thin right behind and above my ears?

I would just keep it at a 2 or 3 guard and have your barber blend it in with the rest of your hair, probably 99%+ of the population wouldn't even notice most cases of retrograde alopecia. Personally I'm not a fan of SMP in general unless you're using to camouflage FUE/FUT transplant scars.

Why is my hair so thin right behind and above my ears?

It looks like retrograde alopecia. The hair around your ears, and sometimes in a thin arc towards your nape or in the nape itself will thin out quite a bit relative to the rest of your hair. I have the same thing. The good news is that you won't go bald in that area, it'll just get...

What do you think of low-dose finasteride?

DHT is a paracrine hormone, meaning it is primarily produced in the tissues where it exerts its effects. Serum DHT only accounts for a small amount of DHT in the body, and it is mostly what travels from the tissues into the bloodstream. If you start to see serum levels rising, that could...

What do you think of low-dose finasteride?

There's a lack of outcome evidence to suggest anything below 0.2mg of finasteride will work for the maintenance of hair. Something to make note of is that it takes time for the 5AR enzyme to regenerate. There's evidence to suggest that taking the medication on alternate days could provide the...

    Dry eye syndrome

Are you sleeping properly? As someone who suffers routinely from dry eye, this is the number one thing that sets it off.

Drink RU58841 like oral liquid minoxidil

The entire point of using RU58841, or any androgen receptor antagonist, is to localize it to the scalp tissue (more specifically, the hair follicle) in order to compete at the androgen receptor with DHT (and to a lesser extent T). Taking a drug like this orally as opposed to topically...

24M, significant diffuse thinning and receding hairline - is this salvageable?

Using the same dosage myself; 1mg every other day. Don't have any diffuse thinning, but it's strengthened my existing hair (NW3) and stopped further loss. Only at the 7th month mark, so we'll see if it improves.

24M, significant diffuse thinning and receding hairline - is this salvageable?

You're still on the 1mg 3x a week dosage for finasteride? Congrats on your results.

EVERYONE Will Get Finasteride Side-Effects Eventually

Arguing with people who have PFS over the safety of finasteride is like going to a pro-life rally and promoting abortion. You're wasting your time. As unlikely as it is for finasteride's FDA approval status to be revoked, I could care less whether or not it occurs. Just let individuals who have...
