Dads thin at 50, probably could go for one of those hair on the back and side things if he shaved the top. Grandfather on his side has a good head of hair still. Moms side I don’t really know he died

Is this a normal maturing hairline or should I go see a dermatologist? One side is worse than the other.. is that normal? Not sure I want to just hop on minoxidil or something without consulting a professional.

Alright so I’ve established my hairline issue as a very real thing... what now? What would the best course of action be to reverse this or help hair grow?

Doesn’t minoxidil make people shed hair? So say I put it on my temples, I’d shed the baby hair things I have and grow new longer ones? And if I got some hair and stopped applying it then would the hair I gained fall out? And what is wrong with finasteride? Im not entirely informed about it but...

So I assume the process of getting minoxidil is something like go to the derm and get prescribed? Do you have experience with minoxidil? If so, how much does it cost and what are the side effects?
