Crown pic for all the naysayers

i'm 29. after looking some more, i don't think it is thinning. i took some pictures to compare, and when i pressed down the hair in and around the swirl area, it looked similar to the rest of my hair. as for number of hairs lost a day, it doesn't really matter. it's not how many you lose each...

Crown pic for all the naysayers

i think i have something similar going on. short hair, swirl hairs are standing more upright and more scalp shows certain places. don't know if it's beginning to thin out or if it's always been like that.

Any scientific evidence that propecia works at the temples?

by that i mean, are there any studies that prove that propecia(finasteride) does work at the temples as well? not the vertex or mid, anterior front part of the scalp or whatever, but the temples. there are a lot of conflicting reports from users, so it's impossible to draw any conclusions based...

    Bryan, or anyone, testosterone questions...

hah, that's one crazy theory. wish it was true though, as my 'triangle' is near gone.

    Hairline(again...)

nah, i think it's simply the brain releases lh and fsh when you take finasteride, which in turn leads to an increased testosterone production. i'll look for a study that confirms this. however, either way, it doesn't matter what the cause is. fact of the matter is, testosterone levels go...

    Hairline(again...)

unfortunately, it usually does. in short, the brain notices that there is less dht and as such, tells the balls to make more testosterone. http://www.andrologyjournal.org/cgi/reprint/12/6/372

    Hairline(again...)

that's the problem, isn't it. 'you think', but who knows? we're all different and we all react differently to drugs. to some, i do think it can actually make things worse. for the majority, it'll probably have no to very little effect and for a few it could make things either better or worse...

    Hairline(again...)

it might help, though i've read(from bryan i think) that one would probably need high doses of spironolactone to prevent testosterone from binding to the androgen receptors(kill your hair. :) ). btw, be careful. spironolactone could cause some serious side effects.

    Hairline(again...)

in short, testosterone has the same effect as dht on your hair follicles. propecia(finasteride) lowers your dht-levels, but to compansate, your body increase testosterone production. as such, your hairline, which some say is particularly sensitive to testosterone, could get worse. this will...

    Hairline(again...)

doesn't this: http://endo.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/138/1/356 and this: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/quer ... med_docsum scare those who are taking propecia, but are only experiencing recession at the temples? i mean, taking propecia lowers dht levels, but it increases...

    Should i start taking proscar?

hi. i was a bit worried if i was losing ground or not, so today i went and got my hair cut(really, really short) and f*****g brilliant news. my hairline is damn near exactly like it was two years ago. no recession without use of any meds. f*** yeah!

    To scared to take...

i'm in the same boat as you. i'd probably try propecia or proscar if it wasn't for the shed people keep talking about. it seems to me that most people who go on it shed a lot and their hairline recede a lot within the first 12 months and it never really comes back either. should people with...

    My plan, any good?

not to mention, finasteride begins losing its effects after 5 years on average. wouldn't it be more prudent to save it for if or when my hairloss become more agressive? proscar and propecia aren't cures, they are merely 'remedies' that might help you put off the inevitable for a few years.

    My plan, any good?

we'll see. just compared my hairline now to the pics i took two months ago(i've got a birth mark right at the hairline, so it's a perfect 'benchmark'.) and it looked exactly the same. if anything, maybe slightly less receded. so guess i'll just keep an eye on it for now. if i notice any...

    My plan, any good?

28 and a Norwood 2. lost maybe 1,5 cm above the temples in the last 8-9 years or so, so fairly slow recession. don't really know when it receded. whether it's gradually or all in one big swoop. compared to my hairline about 2-3 years ago, it's about the same, but a few more shorter(though not...
