Absolutely. We all know that dutasteride is better than finasteride when it comes to inhibiting DHT, but does it actually matter - i.e. does that provide more protection to your hair?

Well, you should start early but not too early. 18 seems like a good age to me. I remember my cousin and I started to lose hair at about the same age. 15 years later, I'm 32 y.o. and still a NW2 and he's 31 and a NW4. :punk:

Hi! This is Flavio from Madeira Island, Portugal. I'm 32 and I've been on finasteride (Proscar 1/4) for 12 (twelve) years. Finasteride has maintained my hair and improved the appearance of my scalp (it's less greasy now). There were no side effects, this is probably the safest drug I've ever taken.

I hate generics. I don't know where they come from, I don't know what's in them and I don't trust them. I'm not an expert but I've talked to nurses and doctors who told me that even if they're genuine, they're usually not as effective as brand drugs. I know many of you disagree and prefer...

I'm not sure, probably around 40 euros a packet. That's why I love Portugal. You don't even have to say why you need the drugs. Just go in the drugstore, ask for your meds (and I'm talking about genuine brand drugs, not generics!), pay and leave - no questions asked.

In neighbouring Portugal, you can buy ANYTHING without a prescription :) If you have the time, pay us a visit.

Finasteride was mentioned on last night's episode of the wonderful tv series House MD. Gregory House had to treat a young kid that was part boy, part girl and he prescribed an injection of finasteride to counteract the effects of testosterone. Not very flattering for us, finasteride users...

Apparently, nobody knows for sure. Minoxidil is still a big mystery. It is a vasodilator, but that doesn't seem to be the reason why it regrows hair.

10 mg everyday is A LOT of finasteride. Try 1 mg / day for a couple of months and if you're not happy with the results, then increase the dosage.
