I clicked this thread thinking I would find Bryan's latest advice for treating hair loss. I'm shocked to hear about his passing. He did a lot of good on this website. I didn't know he wasn't a scientist by profession. Fooled me. Still I would trust his advice over any Derm.

As a hairloss veteran, I would recommend Fincar. I've tried everything from spironolactone to a swift kick in the bean bag. They are all the same just that Finasteride grows hair. I've been off proscar for 6 months. The shedding didn't start until after 2-3 months off proscar. Not to worry you shouldn't notice any loss.

I feel your pain. I've been there and still recovering. I was on propecia & minoxidil for 13 months when I ended up in the ER with the same symptoms - fricken unbounded anxiety, I had to think to control my breathing...welcome to hell! The only theory I can come up with to explain my problem...

For the sake of hair count I wonder if one could take 1 mg for 6 months and then step the dosage down to 0.5 mg and finally 0.2 mg? Get all the increased hair count and maintain it with the lower dose? BTW, have any of you guys come across any research that shows finasteride loses it...
