Is there anything officially documented about the male pattern baldness itch? Because I mentioned it to my doctor and he disagreed with it and said he'd never heard of it. Though to be honest hair isn't his specialty.

That sounds like anxiety. In fact, I think most of the reported "male pattern baldness itch" is just anxiety. Scalp tingling/itching is a symptom of anxiety, I have it. It stopped when I was on antidepressants though.

I honestly believe it'll be students or amateur scientists that will cure male pattern baldness or at least bring out a better treatment someday. Good luck mate, let us know how it goes.

If it works for you and you've got 0 side effects then that's great, good for you. I've never taken finasteride but I've taken Effexor (SSRI) and I had erection/ejaculation issues. So if you quit finasteride and experience issues like that it may be because of the SSRI, not because of finasteride withdrawal. SSRI issues usually sort themselves out though.

No one here will tell you not to take finasteride, just as no one on a PFS forum will tell you to take finasteride. You should see a dermatologist and trial finasteride, if your side effects are really bad or don't cease after a month or so you should stop taking it. Definitely see a dermatologist though to diagnose male pattern baldness.

I have to admit as someone who's still on the fence about taking finasteride or not, reading this terrified me. A temporary inconvenience is one thing if it all goes wrong, but irreversible damage is nothing to scoff at. Even if the percentage of being affected in that way is quite low.

I'm more interested in experiments like this rather than some a**h** playing with bald mice.
