Hey everyone,
I haven't posted here in a while but I wanted to share my experience and have people weigh in with their opinions.
For the last seven or eight years I have been using minoxidil and laser fairly successfully. A few years back I had propecia in that regiment as well, with really good results. I was 22 and saw about 70-80% of my loss stop or come back. I heard about all the ill-side effects of propecia and prostate so I stopped. My hair definitely took a hit -- I lost about 20-30% of my total progress.
Anyways, fast forward about 8 years and my hairline along with a little general thinning has been the only real loss. Unfortunately I had a high hairline to begin with so oh well, right. However this past year my loss has definitely accelerated 2-3 times quicker and my hair line has taken a visible hit. I haven't been as religious with the minoxidil and did cut it down to once per day, sometimes still twice.
So I took it upon myself to try and bring some of my hair back for at least 2-3 more good years. I started using this regiment:
-Morning wash with home made caffeine shampoo(Biota with a little hairever and 2-3 scoops of pure caffeine powder) leave in for 3-4 mins.
-Night minoxidil foam and liquid with the biota leave in serum
-Laser ever 3-4 days.
After 3 weeks or so of this regiment (about two months ago) I noticed what seemed like: less fallout, darker hair. I thought "sweet!" It seems like I've halted the storm. I could shake my head out pretty firm with my hands and only a few hairs!!
But then the tides turned. This is where I'm looking for opinions on shed or interference... About 3-4 weeks ago my hair starting shedding again pretty substantially. Now for the last two weeks it's been insane and I can get more hair to come out then EVER before. I can see my middle region for the first time and the hair line has taken a noticeable step backwards to the point where it looks like hair loss now.
Do you guys think this is a good shed?Maybe that the hairs stopped their growth phase and will come back with that regiment. Or, do you think the caffeine (being a vaso constrictor) and minoxidil being a dialator, canceled my benefit of minoxidil and now I'm seeing the consequences??
For the record I stopped the caffeine about two weeks ago and the hair continues to fall out with no end in sight.
I will say that the hairs that started falling out first we're all very long and dark/strong looking hairs, now more of the finer ones are falling so I'm hoping there is some sort of progression to this.
What are your guys thoughts.. Massive shed is good, means that it's working? Or you interfered with a good thing and got greedy?
Feel free to ask questions or comment
Thanks in advance!
