Hey,
I'm a 22 year old who's been losing hair for about 4 years I would guess. I have been taking proscar for almost 2 years now and it doesn't seem like it has had much of an effect. I think my hair loss had increased fairly steadily since I began taking it most likely. I've underwent a fair amount of stress over the last two years (regular school stress as well as the death of one of my closest friends over a year ago). I have also been a fairly consistent drug user (mostly pot) and drink quite often. During the time I have been on Proscar I have had a terrible diet which consists mainly of fast food. Anyways I had been shaving my head over the last year and thought I would give growing it out a try and the reality of how bad my situation is has hit home since I've grown it out. I've gotta few questions that I was hoping could be answered. Is it possible that the stress, pot smoking and poor diet has been the culprit of me not responding to finasteride or is it most likely not going to work for me? Other than switching to dutasteride, which I don't think is an option for me is there anything people would reccomend? I am considering starting to use minoxidal and will certainly get Nizoral in the next few days. [/img]

Your scalp is red or maybe it's just because the photo. If it is you should use Nizoral three times a week.

Yeah my scalp has been like that for a long time. That's why I am quite hesitant to use minoxidal. Considering the shape it is already in I feel like it might get ravaged by it.

For someone who has been losing for 4 years you seem to have good hair. I'm pretty sure your hair loss isn't even visible when your hair is completely dry. Makes me think finasteride has at least slowed down your loss...I dunno.

A bad diet can definatly be something that will increase loss. Not enough actual protein will hurt your hair. Stress will also increase loss, but stress related loss is usually not permanent. Weed should help you keep your hair =) THC is a dht surpressant
