hey guys,
i'm facing a problem here and its started since i took finasteride. didnt realise it till now but since i started, 8 hours of sleep is just not enough for me. i wake up sleepy even after 8 hours !? feels like i could sleep forever, and when i force myself to wake up i feel drowsy for another 2-4 hours. is this finasteride related?

I have noticed this too and to tell the truth I welcome the change. I had severe insomnia in the past and now I sleep 7-9 hours a day. I don't feel too drowsy after coffee though.

That's probably mild depression.

I have this problem too. I'm not sure if it's the finasteride or not since i had sleeping issues before starting.

I'm not saying you are 'depressed' but a lot of people who are going through hairloss who complain of mental fog, sleeping a lot, mood swings etc. May well be suffering from undelying depression, as all of these symptoms are extremely common in all cases.

It's the body's way of coping with mental problems

I am still shedding. Its hard to tell but I think it is slowing down. I am only 7 weeks in and 8 on minoxidil so its hard to say what is causing what. It's also too early to tell if I have anything good going on up there. Down there all problems seem to have cleared up too.

My sleeping situation may not be finasteride related at all since I am sleeping the way I was last fall. Unfortunately I am getting this "good night's" sleep from ~7Am - 2PM :( . One late night taking data and I am stuck on a crap schedule.

Usually for me I don't sleep when depressed and that only makes matters worse. To combat that drowsiness maybe you should consider an early morning workout. I used to do that a few years back and it does help get the juices flowing. Topping a good workout off with a good breakfast and a huge cup of coffee used to have me wired.

I have to agree it sounds like depression, even a mild form.

Since my hair loss has progressed and I've got more anxious and worked up about it my body clocked is fucked and it takes me ages to nod off.

Anyone have any suggestions for resetting one's clock? Mine is so stuck on a 24 schedule shifted about 4-5 hours from where I want it to be.

Avoid naps, and avoid caffeine for a few hours before you want to sleep. Some people think taking melatonin at bedtime helps reset their internal clock to a new schedule...

Hey dude, if you're doing any snoring when you're sleeping it's possible that you've got sleep apnea. I'm not saying that you do but it's another possibility. Sometimes, drugs will cause a guy to gain more weight. It's a trusted fact that more overweight guys have sleep apnea. But I'm not saying that you're overweight but...now what am I trying to say? :hairy: I guess not to be too quick to give the credit for your sleepless nights to your hairloss regimen.
