i thought i could ride the current hairline out for a while longer, but doesnt seem to be the case. im on propecia but i just started, and now i want to start xandrox. i like hte idea of the 12.5 lotion, but wold it be wise to initially start off with this? also if im just gonna be applying it to the hairline and temps where there is little to no hair (the only hair is only visible when you inspect it close to a mirror), am i gonna get this massive shedding that i keep reading about. also what is gonna benefit me? i want to start running, but i read things like working out and sexual activity adds to hair loss. i want to stay positive but with everything out there its hard to.

I would strongly suggest regular Rogaine 5% before you go on Xandrox. For many people, xandrox is overkill and their scalps can't handle it. Plus you've got a lot of clinical data backing Rogaine 5% and that should give you more peace of mind.

If you've just added Propecia you will most likely shed for up to 4 months. Expect it and ride it out. It will grow back. If you add Rogaine at some point, that can and will cause more shedding for awhile, but again, ride it out. Things may get worse before they get better. Ride it out.

Yeah, definitely start with rogaine/generic minoxidil before going to the more pricey xandrox. Xandrox is 5% minoxidil with 5% azaleic acid, which may or may not be effective against DHT in the scalp. Dr.Lee is a strong believer in AA's DHT fighting ability, but there ain't no studies to prove it.

I'm a good responder to minoxidil, and after a brief shed, I could see improvement by 2 months on it. Don't fear the shed.

Give regular minoxidil 6-12 months (depending on results) before trying the more potent, and expensive formulas. If you do eventually decide to try a more potent minoxidil, I'd go with Lee's 15% xandrox solution. Never heard much good about his xandrox lotions, but some have been having new regrowth with the 15% xandrox liquid released last October.

If you have a problem with rogaine/generic minoxidil drying time, Lee's regular minoxidil would be worth trying. The stuff dries fast, and for me, I get less flakes and itch from it due to the lower propylene glycol content.
