OK...I have been reading here off and on I guess a couple years. Just to give basics..

I'm 33, w/m, blond hair...starting noticing male pattern baldness around 26...always had military cut...but it got worse, around 29 I started shaving my head with a razor...it looked good..still does...I have one of those heads and looks (Kinda like Bas Ruten of the UFC...that kinda look..especially with a goatee).

So from about the Summer of 2001 to May of 2002 I tried Rogaine...I would shave my head still and apply it 2-3 times a day. When I would let it grow out some (say, 2-3 days) It STILL looked thin in that top/back area, the traditional bald spot area. (I also have some frontal thinning). I gave up...just kept shaving it and figured I would just have to accept it. By the way, shaving it, when you can pull it off, is quite liberating..I had a lot of self-confidence and it kinda makes you look "tough"...I'm very athletic and it suited me well.

So, later though (recently) I missed the ability to have different looks..that may sound odd, but it was like, I accepted that I had to shave it (Razor) but I was kinda pissed, in a secondary manner (unlike the original "this sucks" stuff years ago)..that I couldn't have any look but the Mr. Clean. So I picked up the local supermarkets 5% and figured..what the hell..stick with it, again, and actually let it grow out.

It's been three and a half months and I can ABSOLUTELY tell you, beyond any doubt, it is working. I think part of the solution, is that you have to understand that some hairs indeed do grow slower (the male pattern baldness affected ones for sure)..and that if you shave it with a #1 guard (and I do no guard up the sides, very close), over and over, those latent hairs will eventually "fill in" and catch up. They take longer to grow..so, after 3 days, or a week or whatever, of not razor shaving, you can see the male pattern baldness..BUT, if you just keep shaving with a short guard, in other words "leveling" the hairs, the new growth will catch up and fill in. I guess the longer the stuff works, the stronger and darker they get, prospectively, you could then use a #2 or #3 guard and it would fill in, to that point, until it reaches its genetic limit.

I haven't razored in about 2 weeks...and I am amazed, that the back/top is filling in. Blond hair everywhere...and this is just 3.5 months...if it were to keep this kind of progression (not counting on it), I would look completely normal in 3 months..I would keep my hair short like that Beckham style.

My regimen is simply minoxidil 2x daily...regular multi-vitamin and one calcium pill everyday. exercise, red wine, and sleep !

Folks, it's working...! I plan on keeping it short (which will look better anyhow).

It's amazing..simply feeling it back there, where there used to be nothing..and seeing it...its a weird feeling. Like having lost teeth, and learning how to chew without them...then one day they return.

ANyhow..thought I would share.

thanks

Thanks, I am going to stick with this one thing for now. I want to see where this goes.

It is kinda weird to feel it everywhere...as soon as it darkens up and perhaps the shafts get a bit thicker, I will be a Norwood ZERO ! There actual hairs are already there..tons of them, about 3/4 inch long...its just they are so thin and damaged.

And if it doesn't fully work, or stops working, I can always break out the razor again. I don't mind it and it gives confidence..but it is also nice to have different options for styles, various "looks"...ya know, like when you had hair !

I completely understand where your coming from :) But by the sounds of it you have NOTHING to worry about as far as im concerned! Its working! Give it 6 months to a year your hair might turn into terminal hair.. If NOT, you could always add a DHT inhibitor like finasteride/spironolactone and that should deffinetly help!

You sound like a good responder to minoxidil, keep us updated mate!

Lawdy. Hearing that 1,200 men maintained or regrew their hair after 2 years of use on Propecia in a totally controlled, documented trial complete with hair counts didn't raise your confidence, but that post did?

HairLossTalk.com, your hair does not look as bad as mines from what I have seen from your pics. Do you know how it feels waiting? You have to wait months for a treatment to work, thats the sucky bit.. And this may sound a bit weird but I do read the clinical trials over and over again and check out the pics cause they DO boost my confidence also. Whatever works for me I guess?

The status of your hair is irrelevant to the topic at hand. Your confidence should be raised by the clinical data and document reports of over 1,000 men. You should not need a single post from a single guy on an anonymous discussion forum to boost your confidence.

1,000 documented reports wasn't enough?

Im trying to point out to you what I've pointed out to you before. You and many others put way too much stock in what you read on discussion forums, both good and back and put way too little stock in what you read in the clinical data. This is how you got tricked into using a bunch of hogwash products that dont work before you came here. Remember?

That is the danger of this whole thing. Believe it or not I'm trying to help.

HairLossTalk.com

I just said it was enough, but its nice to see people on HERE that you can actually interact with tell you they are getting results :)

Yes I do remember what you said HairLossTalk.com, but I think you really have got the wrong end of the stick, you read into my post a bit too much. Its nice to hear people are having good results, dont you think? Thats all I meant by it, I used to, before I visited this site think that herbal treatments etc would work, but then I realised im just wasting my time.. This site has deffinetly opened my mind up and taught me a lot more than any other hair loss site. Just wanna say thanks anyway :)

You have a history of believing everything you hear on discussion forums Stinger, and taking actions purely based on such posts. You've admitted that before. For proof of this, look at your regimen list.

That is what im addressing, because a lot of guys do that and its dangerous. If you were just some joe, I would not have replied that way.

Its current length verifies the above point however, that you rely too much on discussion forum posts for your decisions. In any case, point has been made. Nuff said.
