Winning the war on finasteride...when's peak?

Coming up on 5 months on finasteride on the 20th of November. This stuff is absolutely kicking ***. My hair is looking so much thicker in general, and so are the individual strands that I'm shedding here and there. I'm a responder. I don't know why I'm one of the lucky ones, I must have said my finasteride prayers right. haha. My hairline is looking better, and the crown of my head is filling in unbelievably well. I never expected results this good. I was hoping just to maintain...but month by month of finasteride...my hair is getting better.

I'm one of the success stories coming back to talk about it. A lot of people in these forums are people that continue to lose hair, or are starting to lose hair...and that's why they're here.

My question is...is when does the finasteride treatment peak? I'm coming up on 5 months in...and I'm ridiculously happy it's gotten better. When will I see my best results...1 year, two? And how long do results last if I continue to take my medication? Will I keep my hair for years and years? a lifetime?

Good luck to everyone...I would recommend finasteride ANY day to someone who's losing their hair. It may or may not work, but its worth a shot.

Great to hear you're having success and responding well; do you have any before and after pictures you can share?

I had good results with Finasteride too, though I also had a lot of other medication which almost certainly enhanced the effects. In my case I steadily seemed to regrow hair for about 4 years then it maintained (I still get fresh vellus growth even now, but they rarely develop into terminal hairs).

One thing I would advise caution over is (at least in my case) at least twice a year I would seem to experience awful thinning which made me think it was the end of the good times, but then about six weeks later I had a fresh growth spurt and on it went. It drove me nuts for the first couple of years until I got used to it.

As an aside, have you experienced any unpleasant side effects (I know it's impossible to say if they are from the Finasteride or not).

I noticed results almost instantly (it was weeks), though I don't think that's typical at all.

I can remember my previously shiny noggin suddenly became covered in fine fuzzy vellus, it was quite a shock as everything I had read led me to believe it would take months and months.
