I first remember seeing minoxidil commercials in the early 90's. Propecia came out in 1998...It has been over seven years since then. Why nothing new? So many people talk on this forum about hair multiplication or a cure or what have you in ten years, but it's already been seven years since propecia alone. They haven't even invented a better form of minoxidil. Or a better fluid to put on your head.

It seems like we are no closer to finding a cure than we were x years ago.

I've been on finasteride. for 11 months, can't really tell if there was a difference because I started pretty well, and with toggling back and forth between minoxidil. once and twice a day, I can't tell if I'm going through a shed, or am just as bad/good as when i started. I just want to believe that if I can hold onto my hair for another five years, then go on dutasteride., that something will be ahead for us all.

i sound like gunner.

Well, if ya stay up late enough, you can watch those stupid fuckin infomercials that try to sell hairloss treatments. Other than that...................................good ol' Bosley. Just because it isn't on TV doesn't mean it won't be on the net and won't work. I don't know, maybe it is a touchy subject with some people and they don't broadcast it anymore like they used to. :?

thanks for trying to help.

i think you completely missed the boat. bosley and co. is irrelevant. i'm simply stating that after 13 years and 7 years respectively, there should be better oral and topical agents in fighting hairloss.

I probably have one of the best heads of hair on this forum. That doesn't change the fact that I'm bothered by my thinning/receding, and know what the future holds for me.

I've been reading about hair multiplication, but our own site features an article about how the advances being touted are wrought with obstacles:

http://www.hairlosstalk.com/newsletter/ ... le&sid=241

hair cloning seems much longer than five to ten years away. even though it gets touted with ridiculous numbers like 3. It would take so long even if it got through PIII trials, which in and of itself would be a minor miracle.

In essense, what you're saying is:

"Even though after thousands and thousands of years of human civilization we've only in recent decades begun to crack the puzzle that is male pattern baldness. I am part of the latest generation of human, that which has become accustomed to "instant" tv dinners, instant sattelite communication, and space travel. I expect my scientists to find cures for things instantly. Snap their brainy fingers and it's problem solved."

Dude. Do you think for a second that if there were a useful new product out there that someone wouldn't capitalize on it and become rich?

Do you think this stuff is easy? Just throw some sh*t in a bottle and test it one some mice?

I, for one, think you need a swift kick in the nuts. we are all waiting.

maybe we can get our governement to disclose that there are in fact aliens here on earth that have been working with the black government for the past 50 or so years. If they can genetically alter and splice animals and bend time and space, they can find the cure to hairloss. What, you think it's just a coincidence that humans went from horse and buggy to walking on the moon in less than half a century?

There is no other treatment at this point. Propecia is the best treatment to stop your hair loss. Det is the only other treatment that would work better then propecia but it's not prove yet for hair loss.

yes, i do think they should have come up with something by now.

kennedy wanted a man on the moon within ten years. our top engineers laughed at him.

i realize people are working hard towards the goal, I would just expect something -- maybe not a flat-out cure or all-encompassing medication -- but something with dutasteride's strength should be the standard right now.

i don't know if Propecia. and minoxidil. are working for me. i shed, i have zits and such, so i would think somethings happening. but i wonder if i'm even maintaining, and i wonder if dutasteride woudl do more for me. i just want to hold out longer before i need to make that choice. i've only been on the other stuff for 11 months.

Why does dutasteride have to be the "standard" before you use it?

Stop whining like a girl, MAN UP, and use it!

Me... I'm looking good enough on finasteride and minoxidil to chill for 6 years till things change.

Meanwhile, you can't make a post like this and pretend that products like dutasteride, fluridil, laser comb, and others have not been making headway.

In other words, quit bitching, bend over, and pull out your wallet.

And if things aren't progressing fast enough for you I might suggest applying to a good med school, then getting your own research grants and applying your own genius ideas towards the problem.

Till then, pop in a Hungry Man and shut the f*** up.

You're also forgetting, finasteride and minoxidil were discovered by accident. The reason we have a pretty good idea why we're going bald is because of the discovery of finasteride.
