You can do whatever you want. There is no rule. If you have the time and the money, use more than 1mL.

Diffuse thinning is frequently referred to as "Female Pattern Baldness". Primarily because Male Pattern Baldness has unique traits that you'd only see in men (receding temples, receding hairline, etc), whereas thinning throughout is commonly seen in women. It's just an old school semantics issue that plays no role in anything related to treatments.

If I was a diffuse thinner, I would use cheap generic minoxidil and use around 2ml.

Of course this does raise the chance of a shed or irritation but I wouldn't worry about that so much.

well I'm a diffuse thinner and I find I need to use up to 2ml per application.
1) Because of coverage
2) Because my hair seems to absorb a lot of the minoxidil.

Keep in mind you don't have to soak your head with minoxidil. Just get a thin film on most of the afftected areas...This will take some practice. I'll see if I can dig up the method I posted a few times that works well for me.

Diffuse thinning is very common in men so don't let that get you down.
You'd be suprised how many of us here have the diffuse thinning pattern.

If you catch it early you have a very good chance of having success with a solid regimen.

Be happy you're a diffuse thinner! Diffuse thinners respond quite well to Propecia.

i mix not sure if it helps or messes. but i use 15% at night with about 1/2ml of generic 5% 15% is so sticky so fast i dont feel like i cover teh whole head plus generic 5% is so cheap anyways. i heard that the glycol whatever carries minoxidil better through the scaple? but anyway i do that now and im on fincar. lets see in two months what that does.

I'm a diffuse thinner- actually I swear my hair is thin all around my head, not just the scalp/top.

I usually use 2ml in the morning all around, and then .5 to 1 ml at night on the thinner areas, in the center front part of my head.

Good luck.

Did you notice your heart racing after applying minoxidil? it does if you apply enough and that´s a long term issue - racing your heart rate that is.

Woohoo! Music to the ears of this newbie! I don't have the male pattern baldness horseshoe at all. My hair is getting thin all over the top fairly evenly. I have also been shedding like crazy for quite some time. Glad to know that I'm not some oddball that loses hair like women do! lol

Can't wait for all the various treatments to arrive via mail. All I have right now to work with is generic Rogaine....

This is like saying "have you ever got hit by a car while walking down the street?" You will if you keep walking around outside long enough"....is it possible yes.....Is it probable no

On very rare occasions minoxidil can go beyond the scalp and into the blood stream....applying slightly more is most likely not going to do that.....Bathing in it maybe.
