Why No Official Topical Propecia From Merck

Why has merck never reformulated propecia as a topical to get a new patent? They also have not done anything more for hair loss like no new products or R&D since propecia released twenty years ago. Its odd merck never followed up on propecia with anything new so why is that. Is it just poor sales on propecia?

if it works then it's going systemic, might as well take the pill

Probably the same sides, they could have bought RU or other topical AA in trials but they must know something we don't or just aren't interested due to stability issues or marketing.

doesn't need to be, we can glean enough information from what we know about DHT and Finasteride

I'm not sure we know that much.

Which is more important, serum or scalp DHT?

Do T&E matter?

Etc.

I vote for finasteride footpowder, we know it absorbs through the skin so it will go systemic, it will work.

Obviously the scalp is also skin and will absorb finasteride as well as the feet. Now if only someone could find a way to pack finasteride into a small entity that could be swallowed, like a pellet or pill, to absorb it more effectively and not having to pass through the skin, now that would be great.

so your argument is topical and oral would work the same. There is no way to keep topical finasteride concentrated just to the scalp.

The polichem studies, and various dose studies, show otherwise.

The dose response saturates in the skin prior to saturating in the serum.

Topical Finasteride would be easier to split the dosages.

The Finasteride pills are not scored. That means cutting them won't give an even distribution.

Thats interesting enough but how does the actual results differ? I have confidence in the footpowder theory, it will be every bit as effective as fina foam.

Rclark, so .2mg one day and .3mg the next is a sure way to baldness? Ideally i would say you are trying to split hairs here but you are here because you dont have hair so i have to come up with a better analogy. Bottom line is still that it makes no difference.

Where did you get this information? I don't see any valid reason why they wouldn't be evenly distributed.. these pills are pressed in huge batches, I really doubt the manufacturers wouldn't mix all active and inactive ingredients all together before stamping the pills.

There not scored. It doesn't mean you'll get most in one half, of course. But they aren't evenly distributed.

Can you technically explain the production process that leads up to uneven distribution per pill?

It just means there not scored (halved). It doesn't mean all of it is on one side, but it's not evenly distributed. That's all. No need to
be alarmed.
