Why doesn't finasteride maintain minoxidil grown hairs???

I am aware that it is common knowledge that finasteride will not maintain hairs that have been grown from minoxidil. I just don't understand why! once it has grown and the DHT that initially attacked it has been suppressed, why does it miniaturize again? If you give someone growth stimulants to make them taller, they don't get shorter after stopping the medication. What is the scientific basis for the reminiaturization of minoxidil hairs while on finasteride?

i dont get that either...if minoxidil has helped you grow hair and you're currently on finasteride for dht suppression, why would you lose hair upon quitting minoxidil?!

I suppose the follicles are still badly damaged, but the minoxidil is sorta like "life-support" for them. You remove the life-support, and they're gonna die...

I'm wondering if minoxidil's unknown properties are actually its ability to stimulate histamine which greatly encourages growth but indirectly so. By stopping min your basicly cutting back histamine levels and so your natural male pattern baldness state kicks back into high gear. Its funny how its known that histamine production is important but science is not looking into it.

are you saying I should stop taking my bucket load of anti-histamines then?

I'm still not satisfied...why is there local histmine inhibition only in the micro-environment of miniaturized/affected hairs?
