Why does wet hair makes appear hair thinner than it really is?

Well when its wet does it appear thinner then it is or is it normally that thin and when its dry just makes it look thicker then it really is? Not sure but its probably like how different lighting can make big difference in how it looks.

Wet hairs clump together and don't provide as much surface area coverage.

Yes! the lighting thing... I'm constantly dodging unflattering lighting the best I can. And my bathroom mirror, where I get the most private time to obsess over my hair loss, is the worst lol..
