Why does minoxidil need to be used for life?

The best guess, is that minoxidil stimulates blood flow into hair follicles that are being deprived of blood by DHT. (DHT cuts off the blood supply, thus nutrients for growth. Minoxidil gives the follicles a much needed rush of blood) Once DHT is removed from the bloodstream via finastride, won't the newly formed "minoxidil hairs" be able to survive on their own since they won't be bombarded with DHT?

My only fear is that once DHT clogs a follicle, it never goes away.

The hairgrowth effects of minoxidil don't seem to have anything to do with its vasodilation abilities, because other vasodilators that aren't in the same chemical family as minoxidil don't have any similar hairgrowth-stimulating properties.

Minoxidil works by artificially prolonging the anagen phase of the hair follicle affected by DHT. Once you remove this catalyst it goes back to its former cycle of miniaturization.

isnt it possible, to then massage scalp, and use DHT topicals and shampoos sufficiently enough to keep the hairs intact. Say you stay on minoxidil for another half to one year. While using other more natural treatments.

man scalp massaging is just another hair growth technique used by some, praised by few, disregarded by everyone else. it might work for you and it might not.

hair loss is like a game show, and you're the contestant. if you pick the right door, you will pick a treatment that you respond well to and ensure minimal loss and maximum regrowth and could keep your hair for an indefinate amount of time, if you pick either of the other two doors, bob barker has to let you down. but hey! there there buddy, you're gonna be in the showcase showdown. that means you can change your treatment approach, spin the wheel, and hope for the best.

Because there is no cure. If you like what it does, you must continue or let hair return to its natural state

i say i can regrow with minoxidil, if it works, and be able to keep it by using other treaments and keeping blood flow to the scalp. IE, DHT shampoos, massages, cold/warm water etc

Tosti A, Iorizzo M, Vincenzi C.
Finasteride treatment may not prevent telogen effluvium after minoxidil withdrawal.
"We have recently observed 2 other patients who developed severe hair loss with evident worsening of Androgenetic Alopecia after interruption of 5% minoxidil treatment, despite continued finasteride treatment. Acute telogen effluvium started approximately 3 months after minoxidil withdrawal."
For what its worth.
