Why do so many on here not use a DHT/androgen blockers?

I was just looking through a ton of "regimens" on here and I see tons of people with just nizoral, just minoxidil, or just those two. maybe an occasional person with those plus spironolactone.

aren't these people screwing themselves? i urge you guys to give the finasteride/dutasteride another chance. merck's reported number for sides on finasteride was 4% but it seems that half of people on here have reported sides. I did as well but maybe it was in my head from all the GD posts on here. i know that people with bad experiences tend to come here, more than good experienced, but come on now.

JayMan- I tend to think that it has a lot to do with your frame of mind. Many people like you said may be definately influenced by what they hear here but don'f forget that the impact of hairloss also really affects many people psychologically.

dutasteride/finasteride isn't for everyone. It works well for you and maybe me but as you know, consistency is key.

Im trying to put it off finasteride until im atleast 21 for my childish fear that it might stunt my growth (as i have posted in another topic). I have to agree that it is in fact very essential to probably have an anti androgen/dht blocker. Otherwise, you are only tackling the problem from one side.

I'm afriad of sides, i could be in the minority that do get them. And it doesn't come cheap either i'm afraid after all i've spent already on hairloss products that after 2 years i will have seen no improvement. I guess its the chance i have to take and i'm really seriously considering finasteride now.

Out of interest what are the sides? Save me trawling through all these posts please.

I have no doubt propecia would help, but reducing a hormone found everywhere in the body including the brain doesnt sound safe. We dont even fully undestand what DHT does, it certainly carries on some important functions in the body. Maybe in another 5 years after the first finasteride users are OK then ill consider it.

Finasteride has been used safely since the early 90's.

We drink alcohol, we know it is bad for us.

We smoke cigarettes, we know they are bad for us.

We eat fried food, we know it is bad for us.

Yet we don't take finasteride to stop hairloss, even though it has been proven to be safe.

for me money is an issue.

You can get generic proscar for $90 a year shipped. on some sites even less.

if you're on minoxidil and nizoral then those together are more than that. it's better to be on propecia alone than minoxidil and nizoral.

type I is the one found in the brain. propecia blocks a miniscule %.

Expensive??? How is finasteride expensive?? Buy generic Fincar, split it in fours and it will be almost close to nothing! Sides i accept as an excuse for not taking finasteride, but it certainly isn't expensive!!
